White Whole Wheat from Gold Medal {Giveaway}

Many of the recipes on this site are written with a whole wheat/white flour combo, for two reasons.  1) I truly do want to feed my family quality, nutrient-dense foods, but 2) I want it to taste good.  Who can blame a girl, right?

Ever since I discovered it last spring, though, I’ve been sharing my obsession with white whole wheat flour with anyone who will listen.  White Whole Wheat flour is made with hard white spring wheat. So, it’s whole grain, but with a similar taste and texture to all-purpose white flour.  Yipee!

My pancakes and waffles are now made exclusively with white whole wheat flour, as are my hamburger buns.  I also sub it (sometimes liberally!) in many of my muffins and quick breads.  It is so very nice to not have to combine different flours to get a tasty texture!

My only problem with white whole wheat flour is that I could only find one brand at one store.  Until now.  Available in grocery stores this September is Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour.  It’s great to have options!

Have you been baking with white whole wheat?  Want to try it?  I’ve got a prize pack!  One of my readers will receive:

  • A VIP coupon for a sample of Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour
  • Instructions for conversion
  • Cookie Jar
  • Recipe Cards

To enter, simply leave a comment:  Tell me something you already like to bake with white whole wheat flour or something you’d like to try if you win.

As always, you can earn an extra entry or two by tweeting this giveaway or sharing it on Facebook.

Giveaway ends Sunday, September 18 at 11:59 pm, CST.  Winner will be randomly drawn and notified by email.

  1. I love making muffins and chocolate chip cookies with White Whole Wheat Flour! What a fun contest.

  2. I was SO excited to try the white whole wheat since I love using whole wheat in baked goods too, but it’s difficult to do it in things like cookies without them being weighed down. What I found interesting though, is that while I was at my Smith’s store last week (which is a Kroger store in Utah), I found a KROGER brand of white whole wheat! I just made my first batch of peanut butter bars with it and it’s FANTASTIC! It’s so much more rich than normal with the combination of the whole wheat and the oats. Thanks so much for telling us about this! I’m so excited to keep trying recipes with it!

  3. I would love to try this!! I am really trying to feed my family really well but am struggling with just whole wheat. Sometimes the texture just dosen’t taste right. I would love to try this with my home made rolls and pancakes.

  4. I like to use white whole wheat for most baked goods. Only time I use white is when I’m out of WWW(white whole wheat). I recently found out that my closest store sells this flour in 20 lb bags in the section where the ghee, curry powder, rose water etc. is located.

  5. I’ve recently started using this flour and so far I have made bread, brownies, and pumpkin muffins. It seems a little denser than white flour, but still comes out very good.

  6. Boy, I’d have to say anything I could change out for white flour and still have the taste and texture would have my vote 🙂

  7. I just saw this and bought a bag last night at the grocery store. A prize pack would be wonderful.

  8. I’ve been making/baking Rosemary Olive Oil bread with white whole wheat flour and my family loves it. I’d be thrilled to win this prize pack!

  9. Michelle Finck says:

I just picked up a bag of white whole wheat flour the other week. I used some in my homemade hamburger buns and was very pleased with the results. I purchased the King Arthur brand but excited to see it coming out from Gold Medal as it may be a bit cheaper! Yay!

  10. Never tried it, but would love to do so. Whole Wheat by itself sometimes tastes like cardboard, would love a change.

  11. I would love to try tortillas with this!

  12. Amber Landeck says:

I bake everything with white whole wheat flour! We love it!

  13. I would use the flour in my oatmeal pancakes first.

  14. I’d like to try making cookies w/ this…always use white due to the normal taste it has! 🙂

  20. I would enjoy trying this because I like whole wheat flour, and this sounds like it would be a little lighter for some desserts but still healthier.

  21. We love the white whole wheat. I have used it for pancakes, cookie bars, honey “whole wheat” bread, and corndog muffins. Its such a nice compromise between regular white flour and whole wheat. It can be very hard to find though.

  22. I would like to try it with pancakes and waffles. My husband loves them, but won’t let me make them with whole wheat flour. I have made the switch to unbleached, but I know it’s not the same. 🙂

  32. I would love to win this prize. My husband was just told he is dietbict and I am in switching his diet over. But he loves his bread. So I would love to try this since I make everything from scatch. I already have been using other types of flour but they seem not to be the same. I think I would try them first on Beer Bread for a up coming party we have to attend. I think it would work out perfect and go well with the asiago dip. 39. I love White Whole Wheat flour! I discovered at my local grocery store (Payless – part of the Kroger chain). They have a store brand. Thought I would give it a try since the package said it could be subbed for white flour (whole wheat flour was making things a bit too dense for our liking). I fell in love with it! I use it in all of my baking. Bread is probably my favorite. I am glad to know there will be another brand that might be available in other stores, so I don’t have to make a special trip just to get flour.

  40. I’ve never tried whole wheat flour, but it sounds like something I would love to start using in some muffins!

  63. The other day I made homemade pita bread with part whole wheat flour along with homemade hummus (from dried chick peas). I was inordinately pleased with myself. 🙂 It doesn’t take much to entertain me, obviously! However, both items were really good!

Thanks so much for you and your followers for sharing information about ‘white wheat flour!’ I searched everywhere on the net for a coupon. When I couldn’t find one, I contacted the company.
