When Losing is Winning

Yesterday, I put him off all day.

“Not right now.”

“I’m nursing the baby.”

“After I send these emails.”

“We have to eat lunch first.”

“I need to answer one more oils question.”

“We have to pack sandwiches for the ballgame.”

“We need to go to the ballgame.”

It was all legit. It was a busy day, and I didn’t get everything done.

I’m not going to get everything done today, either. Because today?

Today, I’m still in my pajamas at 10:36. My face is unwashed. We’ve had company. (Eh. She just came to see the littles, anyway. 😉  ). And I’ve already been beat 3 out of 4 hands.

Losing to this guy (fair and square, dude can play!) is a Finer Thing!

(Well, hello Finer Things Friday! I’ve missed you!)

  1. Good for you, Honey! When you’re 70, like I am, you’ll be glad you did this! In fact, I think you’re glad today, aren’t you?! :^)

  2. It’s a wonderful day REALLY when u can sit/listen/just BE with UR kids…
It’s a hard thing to remember isn’t it?

  3. Awesome! Simply awesome post!

  4. We’ve missed you too, Finer thing’s Friday! I needed this post today. My to-do list is incredibly long, but a little guy needs me and there will come a day (probably all too soon) where he will not even ask me to play.

  5. Good for you! Most of that “stuff” can wait. Playing cards with your children is indeed, “A Finer Thing!”

  6. We woke up to my daughter having a stomach issue, not fun, but, it meant a whole day of cancelled engagements -and hours spent cuddling. She feels fine now, so I’ll take it. 🙂

  7. Great post! Such an important reminder and a great little story with your son!! I realized that today what my son needed wasn’t ME but to go OUTSIDE. We finally had a day above freezing and he was thrilled when I said he could head outside in the snow after school.

Btw., does this post double for a “day in the life?” It sounds like yesterday was a doozy. 🙂

    • It WAS a doozy, but I managed to take quite a few photos, so hopefully I’ll get the REAL day in the life written up this weekend!

  8. Uh, oh! Did you see the date?

    • The 15th? Ha! Yes! Woo-hoo! I even took photos and have them ready. Now to find the time to put it all together. 🙂

  9. Good for you! 🙂
