Weekly Dillons Bargain Meal, 4/22

Bargain Meal of the Week

Some of my favorite Dillons ad finds this week:

  • milk,  $2.50/gallon
  • orange juice,  $2.50/gallon
  • fresh strawberries, $4.99/4 lbs.
  • potatoes, $2.99/10 lbs.
  • cheese, $1.29/8 oz.  (stock up!)

Head over to The Grocery Weekly for more bargains and coupon matches.  There are some FREE items to be had!

And what on earth would you do with four pounds of strawberries?

Before they go bad, flash freeze the rest of your strawberries.  Lay them out on a cookie sheet and freeze.  Once frozen, bag them up to keep handy for the following refreshing drinks.

As for what to do with other sale items this week, you might try the following options.

  • cheesy potato casserole, using cheese ($1.29/8 oz.) sour cream ($1/16 oz.) and potatoes ($2.99/10 lb.) or hashbrowns ($1.67/bag)  Make a double batch and stick some in the freezer to bake later.  This casserole is tasty with all sorts of grilled fare!
  • chicken breasts are $2.39/lb. Not a great price, but could be worse!  Try Kate’s homemade chicken bowls or deviled chicken (we really liked that one!)

As the seasons change and it gets warm outside (80° today!) my kitchen motivation is turning toward fun salads, grilling, and sandwiches.  Have any yummy recipes you want me to try out?
