Family Friendly Christmas Movies

wonderful lifephoto credit s_herman

The late fall and winter nights here in Kansas get cold.  Bitter cold and windy.  Not a good combination for much other than a good movie and some stove-popped popcorn… and an afghan… and maybe some hot cocoa…

Here are some movies I’d like to see in the next few weeks.

  1. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (on tv tonight!)
  2. Frosty the Snowman
  3. Little House on the Prairie Christmas
  4. Miracle on 34th Street
  5. A Christmas Story
  6. The Polar Express
  7. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
  8. It’s a Wonderful Life
  9. A Charlie Brown Christmas
  10. The Nativity Story
  11. A Christmas Carol
  12. The Santa Clause
  13. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Cold nights, warm house, movie, popcorn, blanket, family… sounds like a Finer Thing to me!  What am I missing?  What are your must-see Christmas movies?

I love your list.:) DD and I watched The Christmas Story and Charlie Brown’s Christmas just last night. We always watch It’s a Wonderful Life and since last year The Nativity.

I would add, The Homecoming. It’s the movie that inspired The Waltons.

    Christmas Blessings,

Just so you know, I was looking for Christmas movies and when they’d be on and ran across this website…

    http://tv.popcrunch.com/2008-christmas-tv-specials-and-movies-schedule/

It has dates and what movies you can expect to be on which station and time (eastern times, I believe). Merry Christmas!

  15. Alessia says:

#1 never gets old, does it. I love that movie :)

    Happy TT!

  16. kristin says:

“White Christmas” is an absolute must for me (Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney), and “Holiday Inn” (Bing again!) is another fun one for Christmas time. And “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” — the original cartoon, NOT the live-action, Jim Carrey one, which I must say (I confess that I haven’t seen the whole thing, actually) I think is a travesty.

Thanks for the fun list! What a great reminder of all the fun things I should be watching this holiday! kristin

  17. Jaime says:

You’re missing The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus. It’s a lesser known Rankin/Bass film I grew up on. As well as The Little Drummer Boy, and Santa Claus is Coming To Town (all Rankin/Bass films as well).

    Great list! Happy 13ing!

  18. BecKaDoodles says:

#7 is the best christmas movie ever!

  19. Nancy says:

Love Actually is a movie I watch every year (usually more than once).
