Sweet Independence

I love summer craziness.  This year June was harvest, ballgames 3-4 nights a week, Vacation Bible School, and swimming lessons.  Add in a couple of July basketball tournaments, a short vacation, and preparing for a baby, and yes… craziness.

This week, though, we’ve been home since Tuesday afternoon.  Three days of Sweet Independence.  No where to go (other than a doctor appointment and a food co-op pick up, but who’s counting?!) and no one to interrupt my afternoon nap.  Ahhhhh

This summer, Hershey invites you to celebrate a little Sweet Independence of your own with the introduction of its new product, Hershey’s Simple Pleasures chocolates.  Hershey’s Simple Pleasures chocolates have 30 percent less fat than the average leading milk chocolates.

I’ve actually declared sweet independence from worrying about fat and calories this summer (or ever, really), but hey — that might just be me.  😉  Of the three flavors Hershey’s sent me to try, my favorite was the dark chocolate creme.  No surprise there!  I couldn’t have told my 16 year old self that someday I’d grow up and love dark chocolate, but I do!

Hershey’s invites you to sign their Declaration of “Sweet Independence” over on Facebook,  prompting you to enjoy life’s simple pleasures and live a balanced lifestyle. Tell them what you’re declaring independence from and you’ll be entered for a chance at some sweet prizes…$100 gift cards and Simple Pleasures chocolates!

As for me and the rest of my summer?  I’m declaring independence from…

  • cooking complicated, time-consuming meals
  • worrying about adding a little convenience to life
  • getting up early
  • afternoon “to-do” list guilt (nap?  yes, please!)
  • a rigid schedule ~ we’re doing what we want while we can!

How are you celebrating sweet independence this summer?

This post is brought to you by Hershey’s and The Motherhood. All dark chocolate cravings are my own.

  1. I am celebrating by taking a few days off to read a good book. Sometimes, it is the simple things in life…
