Spring Rain {Finer Things Friday}

Last night at bedtime, my pajama-clad kiddos were watching an unexpected heavy rain through the windows.  In a spontaneous Yes! mom moment, I asked, “Well, would you like to go go bed or would you rather go out on the front porch and watch the rain?”

It didn’t take them long to decide.

FYI — It’s not easy to carry on a conversation with the neighbor across the street while it’s raining.  Can you tell?  😉

While we were out enjoying the cool air and fresh spring scent, these crazy hail clouds formed over the top of our house.

Beautiful and scary all at the same time!  So thankful we didn’t have any damage.

A spontaneous evening on the porch swing after bedtime is the kind of Finer Thing I want my children to remember!  What Finer Things are you celebrating this week? Time to link up!

  1. Thanks for hosting Amy!

  2. Thank you for this opportunity to link up.. 🙂

  3. I look forward to reading your finer thing on Fridays. It’s an appreciation for God’s goodness. Keep it up!

  4. What gorgeous pictures! Those clouds are amazing! They look like something out of a sci-fi horror flick.

  5. Lenetta says:

So glad to see someone else putting kids to bed while it’s still light out. I’d show this to Goose but the thing she’d see is that they’re playing outside. :). Hooray for rain!

    • Oh my word. We’ve had many a “sun” and “time” lesson in the last few weeks and months. I can’t *make* them sleep, but I sure can make them go to bed! 😉

  6. Smart children 🙂 Your pictures are just great! I love a good rain storm.

  7. Wow – those clouds are amazing! Those YES moments are so special!

  8. Way to go on enjoying a special moment with your sweet kiddos – those clouds though are a little scary looking!

    Have a great weekend!!

  9. I’ve never in my life seen clouds like that! They’re beautiful and a bit frightening all at once!

My kids would have chosen to go outside and watch the rain also. Hooray for covered porches. 🙂

  10. Awesome photos of the clouds!

  11. Nancy's Daily Dish says:

Love the pic of you chatting with the neighbor across the street! Adorable children too!

  12. Your kids are so cute!
I shared my recipe for Curried Chicken Chopped Salad. It takes a little bit of time to cut everything up but the flavor makes it worth it!
    Thanks for hosting!

  13. You are a great mom, Amy! Thanks for challenging me to say “yes” more often this week.
