Skor Cake

by Amy on January 26, 2009

It’s time to get that Super Bowl menu planned out!  If you’re looking for some fun appetizers, here are a few personal favorites that will keep your crowd cheering.  Lots of other fun party snacks can be found on Kate’s blog.

And for a winning dessert?  What better cake to serve than one called “Skor!”

  • 1 yellow cake mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 large box instant chocolate pudding
  • 2 cups water

Mix and bake in a 9×13 pan at 350° for 35-45 minutes.  Cool completely.

Frosting

  • 1/4 c. melted butter or margarine
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 c. powdered sugar, sifted
  • 8 oz. cool whip
  • 3 Skor candy bars

Combine butter, egg yolks, and powdered sugar.  Fold in cool whip.  Spread on cake and top with crushed candy bars.  Refrigerate.

** If you can’t find Skor bars, Heath works well… as do Butterfinger.

** I think this cake is best after it’s been in the refrigerator for a day.  Perfect for a make-ahead dessert!

** Don’t be scared off by the raw egg yolks.  I’ve been eating this cake and serving it up to family and friends for 20 years.  Never has it been a problem.  Just keep it refrigerated!

I have a recipe just like those tortilla roll ups. I love them. They are so simple and so good.

Oh. Wow. Yum. I don’t do boxed cakes, but I REALLY may have to make an exception for this one. It looks soooo good! What a great way to end a Super Bowl party. And a party there will be!

My roommate in law school used to make those tortilla rollups and they were so good. Now I can make them for myself. And that cake, you had me at Skor!
