*** GIVEAWAY CLOSED ***
*** Winners #28, Shawn and #15, Kathryn ***
Go ahead. Tell me that post title doesn’t make you want to get up and dance!
Today’s one of those days I wish I had a video camera to post a vlog, as I’m sure you’d all be quite entertained my my kiddos jammin’ to Yancy’s new youthful worship cd.

Here’s the thing about music in our home. Our kids love it, and they absorb and repeat the lyrics to any song they hear; at the pool, in the van, on the radio in my girls’ room. It’s scary, really! The other day my 7yo belted out words to a song that made my jaw drop. Let’s just say it wasn’t age appropriate. “Where did you hear that? How do you know that song?!”
She’d heard it at the pool. Good grief, I thought swimming took all her attention and energy at the pool!
Just like I try to be careful about what my children eat and what they watch on tv, I’m concerned about what and who they listen to.
A seasoned artist, worship leader and songwriter, Yancy has spent much of the last decade recording and touring, sharing the stage with the music industry’s brightest stars, including Nichole Nordeman, MuteMath, Newsboys and others. She co-wrote “Something Beautiful” for Jaci Velasquez and Avalon’s #1 hit, “I Don’t Want to Go,” and she’s written two devotional books for worship leaders and musicians. Prior to moving to Nashville, Yancy also spent five years as a worship leader at Church on the Move, a megachurch in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ah, that I can handle!
My favorite thing about the Rock-N-Happy Heart cd is that there is a devotional to go with it! It’s geared toward pre-teens; such an impressionable age! My daughter isn’t quite there yet, but the girl can read.
This daily devotional for preteens is based on the songs from Yancy’s Rock-N-Happy Heart CD, and it matches each song to a different chapter over the span of twelve weeks. Topics include whom God created us to be, worship, devotion, salvation, God’s plan for our lives, and what comes out of our mouth. This devotional is also perfect for teaching preteens the importance of a daily devotional time.
***Interested in the Rock-N-Happy Heart cd? Perfect! I’ve got two copies to give away this week! To enter, just let me know… what kinds of music to your kids like rockin’ to?***
Remember, you can always earn extra entries if you want to. Just let me know in a separate comment(s) how you promoted this giveaway. Winners will be chosen by random.org on Sunday evening, August 1.

My girls love singing worship music! I’m sure they would love to win
Hmm, we don’t listen to a whole lot of music… but there is a certain amount of bouncing and cheering when (sigh) the King of the Hill theme song comes on. My hubs likes to watch it after lunch… Thanks for the chance!
@Lenetta, Ok, that’s just too funny…
We listen to alot of nursery rhyme and typical kids songs around our house..
Hi! Would love the cd for my granddaughter. When we listen to Christian radio while in the car, she is singing and knows all the words. I was amazed. Her fave group now is MercyMe.
wandaeichler@fuse.net
We listen to KLove- Christian radio station. Sometimes we borrow CD’s from the library of Mercy Me or another christian artist. My daughter just came back from Bible Camp and has been engrossed in doing her devo’s (devotionals) so I think this would really add to the “spark”. Thanks for the chance!
My kids love pretty much all music… but we stick to Christian music and some Country around here. I definitely have to be choosy with the Country, but I find that, in general, it’s not as controversial to me as a lot of other genres.
How paralleled our lives are right now!! We are huge country music fans here. That’s all we listen to. I just picked my kids up from VBS and the director (also sons preschool teacher) ran up to me “cracking- up” saying my 4y/o was singing the “Rain” song all day today (Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey, wiskey makes my baby a little frisky, etc…). Says it’s his favorite! And during the school year I caught my 7 y/o singing the “Toes” song out the window…It’s a catchy tune, yes, but not one I’d particularly like her singing at school!!
We don’t really think they’re listening to the words all that much, but when they catch a beat, they belt them out!
@The Cozy Country Home, Oh. My. Hilarious! Our kids could put on quite the show together, huh?!
we like seeds family worship!
We are a KLOVE family – love the Christian music. Unfortunately, we can’t control everything their little ears hear, but as least it’s PG on my watch.
We listen to a lot of Air1 Christian radio and also the Seeds CDs.
In the car, we listen to contemporar y christian. But, on CD or MP3, he likes some “oldies” like Cheeseburger in Paradise, and he loves Disney music and Veggie Tales so far.
My one year old LOVES Veggies Tales Sunday Morning Songs! AND…..so do I!!!
Contemporary Christian/worship music is going often at our house. I also love oldies, my hubby likes blues, and we do sometimes have Sesame Street songs playing for the littles.
My girls have their own sound track to life – they make up songs, usually worship songs on their own and sing them so they have something to dance too.
My favorite series is the Seeds Family Worship CD’s.
@Kristy, What a joy to listen to their very own songs!
Pandora has a great selection of worship music. One of my favorite things to do with my daughter is put on our Pandora “Worship” station and dance around. It’s so awesome to see little ones praising Jesus!
My kids sing songs from church, or we listen to kids songs on CDs. I try to avoid much of what is on the radio for them.
My kids love Steven Courtney (CHristian Kids Musician). They love to listen to “Kids Cookie Break” on our local Christian radio station (WJTL FM 90.3). This is 3 hours of kids music every Saturday morning. My tween is into the David Crowder Band, Parachute Band, and worship music.

In our house, we mostly listen to K-Love radio. I love that they are positive and I don’t have to worry that my kids are going to hear something not appropriate for them when we are listening. It is so amazing to hear my girls praising God with their voices!! They do hear a little country music when in the car with their Daddy, but they often tell him about the songs that don’t have a Christian message!
Thanks for the chance to add to out Christian music collection!
{Don’t enter me! Just wanted to say Yancy is the real deal. She’s one of my IRL friends and you’d love her instantly! Also…I’m giving away a copy of her cd on ImpressYourKids this week, too! When I was going thru my feedreader, I thought THIS was MY post!
}
@oh amanda, I laughed when I saw your post, because I knew this was going up today. JEALOUS that you are friends with Yancy!
We are all about KLOVE here…sometimes the music gets a bit repetitive and old school, but gotta love the lyrics!
At one point, all we had in the car was a free McDonald’s Kid Bop CD and my son would sing Tear Drops on My Guitar over and over it drove me crazy. Now I have ONE song from Hillsong Kid’s that I downloaded on my ipod and he is singing words like “I am Alive and in you I am free!” ah, so much better.
My kids listen to all kinds of music. My personal favorite music station right now 103.9 The Fish.
How I’d Love to win this!!! Thanks for the opportunity. Might I also suggest to your readers the PraiseBaby worship music/DVD’s for the younger somethings. When my son was around 1 year it was the only thing that calmed him down during tough times.
K-Love is what is on at our house and we all love David Crowder Band!
My niece and nephew love what they call “kid music”–kid’s praise and worship songs!
my daughter and son love music and dancing…they would have so much fun with this!
i put this on my facebook page!
We would love some new music in our house!
Honestly, they love our Vacation Bible School cd’s.
We listen to Psalty the Singing Songbook and some Sunday School Song CD’s. Mommy likes to listen to hymns and praise worship.
Always interested to try new music!
jennifer @ beautifulcalling.ca
my 2 y.o. like everything from weezer to baa baa black sheep:)
Like yours, my kids can repeat songs, which is very scary to me! We only listen to christian radio, mostly KLOVE and our local station.
My kids love all kinds of music. My smaller kids will dance to the theme song from Dora the Explorer.
I have a couple kids who like Justin Bieber, they are teen/tweens. I have a toddler, she likes church songs and childrens s0ngs.
