Quick Takes – Vol. 1

I found a great new place to share all of my pent-up randomness, much of which doesn’t qualify for a full-blown blog post.  When you’re finished with my enlightenment, head on over to Conversion Diary for a healthy dose of quick takes!

  1. Yes, I got up at 3:45 Friday morning.  I was drug out of bed by peer pressure!  I couldn’t let my aunt and cousins get all the good deals without me… and besides, Black Friday in a small town (not Tiny Town… no stores here, but there is a Wal-Mart 15 miles away) is not the same craziness as it is in the city.  At our Wal-Mart it’s more like a slumber party, or a ball game… without the actual playing of ball.  Anyway, I got to see all of my friends and neighbors and acquaintences without their make up and I did score some great deals on gifts for nieces and nephews, which is very important considering we have thirteen nieces and nephews to buy for.
  2. According to my daughter, my blender got shot.  Our smoking blender was taken outside after mostly making its last batch of smoothies.  So sad.  Anyone love your blender?  I could use a recommendation!
  3. Announcements was the theme of this year’s Thanksgiving Feast.  The usual “you go first, no you go first” through the buffet line (a Thanksgiving buffet is a necessity when 36 people are dining!) discussion was interrupted by my sister:  “I think pregnant ladies should go first!”  I immediately backed away from the bird (I was just going to fill the kids’ plates, honest!) to make way for my pregnant baby sister and her husband!  Yea!  My newly engaged cousin and her fiance also shared their incredible story.  I love a thoughtful engagement story.  Maybe I’ll tell you mine sometime.  It’s the best!
  4. We got our Christmas card photo… I think.  PhotobucketFour out of five of us looking at the camera isn’t bad, right?
  5. I am really looking forward to celebrating Advent this December!  We’ve got our wreath and our candles and our ADVENTures family devotional ready to go.  I refuse to put up any Christmas decorations until the “season of waiting and anticipation” is well underway.
  6. I love to make cinnamon rolls, but my level of guilt at serving absolute deliciousness void of all nutrition has been increasing at a steady pace.  Enter whole wheat cinnamon rolls! PhotobucketI made some last week (with regular sugar and brown sugar, not rapadura) and who’d have thought that whole wheat cinnamon rolls could be incredibly delicious?!?
  7. It feels so good to write a blog post after a mere 3 day hiatus.  I missed you all!

I’m on the edge of my seat to see what you get for a blender! I got an Oster as a wedding gift (after junking out a few cheap blenders) and it’s done OK, although not great. I recently discovered that it needed a minor repair and the time or two I’ve used it since has been much better. My mom is still using the Oster she got before she was married, so perhaps 40 years???

    I love my KitchenAid blender!

That picture of your family looks great! :) I would say 4 out 5 looking at the camera is great too! :)

*wipes drool off keyboard* those cinnamon rolls look awesome and soooo yummy! It is making me want to make some now! :)

Oh and I hear you about the Christmas decor! We got our lights up on the house before the really, really cold and snowy weather hits but that is it! In my house, the fall decor is still out….so it is still fall! :)

I’m with you on the cinnamon rolls. Last week I added 2 T flax seed meal and 2 T quick oats. They were great!
