Quick Crescent Taco Bake

by Amy on August 24, 2009

It’s been over a year since I’ve purchased crescent rolls in a can, but I just couldn’t resist when I saw them at the Kroger Mega Event and had a coupon.  If I’m going to buy terribly unhealthy food, it had better be cheap!  ;-)

Needless to say, tonight’s delicious supper isn’t the best for you… but, oh my… it sure is a tastebud pleaser!

tacobake Quick Crescent Taco Bake

Quick Crescent Taco Bake

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 pkg. taco seasoning
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. salsa
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 1/2 c. crushed corn chips
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • lettuce
  • tomatoes
  • extra cheese
  1. Brown meat and drain.  Add seasoning mix, water and salsa.  Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Spread crescent roll dough in 10 inch pie plate or 8×10 inch dish to form crust.  Seal edges.
  3. Sprinkle 1 c. chips over crust.
  4. Layer meat mixture, sour cream and cheese on top of crust.
  5. Sprinkle with remaining corn chips.
  6. Bake at 375° for 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
  7. Serve with lettuce, tomatoes, and more cheese.

That looks delicious! Perhaps as a party food (like 7 Layer Dip) instead of a meal so that you don’t fill up on the unhealthiness? My husband would love this as lunch or dinner or a snack near his pool table, or whenever I chose to make it. Thanks for the recipe!

It may not be healthy, but it sounds great! And crescent roll recipes are always nice to have as a plan for really busy days.

Oh the salt! Oh the fat!…My boys are sure to LOVE it! Lol! I have a few of those cans in my fridge from Kroger, too. I’ll have to give this a try. :)

This looks so good! I’d like to make it more healthy, though. Maybe baked tortilla chips could be substituted for the corn chips and ground turkey for the ground beef. Also, I could use lite shredded cheddar cheese and light sour cream. I have to try this now. Thanks for sharing.

Just made this for dinner and it’s SO good! I had everything on hand except the corn chips, so it was especially good! ;)

I make a similar recipe but no bottom crust. I bake the casserole for 20 minutes, top it with 1/2 recipe of corn bread, and bake until the corn bread is done.

I have a very similar recipe to this. In mine, I bake the crescent ‘crust’ first, according to the package instructions, so that its golden brown, and gets the chance to rise a little without all of the other ingredients weighing it down. I also mix salsa in with my sour cream, and I put the Spicy Nacho Doritos on it. Yum!

Brilliant idea… baking the crust first. I’m going to try that next time!

I too only buy crescent rolls if they are cheap or free. I couldn’t resist them during the Mega Event. I’ve been thinking about what I could make with them and I’ll have to try it. My husband is sure to love this recipe. Thanks for sharing.
