Prepare Your Inner Stable

by Amy on December 13, 2009

Advent is a time to prepare your inner stable for the birth of Jesus.

nativity Prepare Your Inner Stable

That one line in this morning’s sermon stopped me in my Christmas preparation tracks.

I still need to bake.  I’ve got oodles of presents to wrap and even a few gifts left to purchase.  We have programs to attend and extended family celebrations on the calendar, and I’d really like to make a photo album for our youngest daughter.  And then there’s this little thing called a blog that I like to maintain.

In the end, none of that matters if my stable is dirty.

Note to self:

  • If you’ve wronged, make it right.
  • If you’re holding a grudge, forgive.
  • If you’re hurried and cranky, slow down.
  • If you’re busy doing for the family, take some time to simply be with the family.
  • If you’re focused on holiday bustle, refocus on him.

My savior, Jesus, was born in a stable.  The least I can do is prepare my heart for him.

How’s your stable looking (and smelling) two weeks before Christmas?

Thank you so much for writing these words. I’m challenged and blessed.

Just wanted to let you know I am hosting a Holiday Treats week this week and will be posting a new recipe everyday, hope you stop by to check it out and maybe link up some of your holiday treats

Exactly.

I also read on some church’s bulletin board this weekend: “Don’t forget Christ while focusing on Christmas.”

Amen! I really needed to hear that. I’m going to take a deep breath when I get home from work tonight and try to be mindful of what you just said.
