Advent is a time to prepare your inner stable for the birth of Jesus.

That one line in this morning’s sermon stopped me in my Christmas preparation tracks.
I still need to bake. I’ve got oodles of presents to wrap and even a few gifts left to purchase. We have programs to attend and extended family celebrations on the calendar, and I’d really like to make a photo album for our youngest daughter. And then there’s this little thing called a blog that I like to maintain.
In the end, none of that matters if my stable is dirty.
Note to self:
- If you’ve wronged, make it right.
- If you’re holding a grudge, forgive.
- If you’re hurried and cranky, slow down.
- If you’re busy doing for the family, take some time to simply be with the family.
- If you’re focused on holiday bustle, refocus on him.
My savior, Jesus, was born in a stable. The least I can do is prepare my heart for him.
How’s your stable looking (and smelling) two weeks before Christmas?

Thank you so much for writing these words. I’m challenged and blessed.
*Going to grab some air freshener!
Such a beautiful sentiment! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the reminder. I definitely need to make sure my focus is on Him during this busy season.
What a great reminder of the holiday season.
Just wanted to let you know I am hosting a Holiday Treats week this week and will be posting a new recipe everyday, hope you stop by to check it out and maybe link up some of your holiday treats
Exactly.
I also read on some church’s bulletin board this weekend: “Don’t forget Christ while focusing on Christmas.”
Amen! I really needed to hear that. I’m going to take a deep breath when I get home from work tonight and try to be mindful of what you just said.
Amen! Thanks so much for that. I needed it.
Loved this! THank you so much for sharing! I just shared it, too.
