Pay Attention

Need a simple tip that could save big bucks in the checkout lane?  Pay attention! Just this afternoon as I was keeping careful watch over my grocery prices, I nearly gasped when my pound of strawberries rang up at just $1.00.  That’s the best price I’ve seen in a year!  And… it certainly wasn’t advertised that way.  The shelf tag said $2.00.

Wanna know who ended up with 13 pounds of strawberries instead of 1 today?  That’d be me!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some strawberries to clean and freeze.

Head on over to Life as Mom for more frugal tips and tricks.

What a great deal! We so love strawberries but it’s extremely rare for us to find them at such a great price. My 6-year-old would be thrilled; I think she could eat a pound or so per meal!

  3. WOW!! I wish they’d have them like that where I live (Louisiana).

I went to Walmart and got Cherries. I didn’t watch when the cashier rang them up and they rang up as $4.38! Sign said $2, and didn’t have the per pound behind it!

I didn’t notice it until I was home and looked at the receipt!

So you really do have to watch the prices.

  4. Yeah! You found your strawberries to freeze!

This happened to me at Meijer a while back! Sign said $2.50 (sale), but they rang up at $1 per lb!!!! I stocked up then and then scored for the SAME price at a local market a few weeks ago! HOORAY FOR STRAWBERRY LIMEADE SLUSHIES!!! :)

  6. Wow! That’s a great deal. Congratulations.
