On Prom and Pretty Fingernails {Giveaway}

My annual prom date was last Saturday!  This was our seventh year in a row to attend prom together, and my 9yo daughter was pretty much appalled that I would wear the same dress I wore… four years ago.  I told her I’m pretty sure no one would care.  😉

And besides, I had accessories this time!  A cousin who is well-known for her jewelry collection walked in our house as I was getting ready.  “I was going to call you and borrow some jewelry, and I forgot,” I told her.  She immediately took the necklace off her neck and the bracelet off her wrist.  “Here, wear this!”  Ha!  It worked!

Also, you can barely see the red tip of my finger, but I was wearing fun nail wraps from Jamberry Nails.  The ones I chose are no longer available, but they are red with flowery swirls.

The girls and I had a great time trying this new product.  They chose stars and peace signs and fireworks and green peace signs.  Even the baby is enthralled by our fancy nails.

Jamberry Nails are a vinyl nail shield that you heat up with your hair dyer and file off the end. They are not a polish, so they don’t chip and there is no dry time. They last up to 2 weeks on fingers and 4-6 on your toes! They are non-toxic, chemical free and made in the USA. There are numerous designs for every age and style.

This is all great news for me, because my last manicure was in July 2008 for my sister’s wedding.  I found it quick and easy to apply the nails, both to my girls and for myself, and no way no how could I achieve the same cuteness with plain ol’ polish.  It was a fun treat!

The girls and I figure each sheet of nail wraps will give us about 3 different full “manicures.”  The sheets are $15, so that breaks down to $5ish per application, which is significantly less than heading to the salon.  We also thought it might be fun to match some polish with the colors on the wraps, polishing some fingers and using wraps for others when we just have “scraps” left over.  Waste not, want not!

I think my personal favorite wraps are the sports and hobbies.  I may be the crazy mom with basketballs, baseballs, and footballs on her nails all at once!  So much fun!

Would you like to try Jamberry Nails for yourself?  Marisa, an Independent Nail Consultant, is giving one of my readers one application/manicure set and set of nails!  So much fun!

Giveaway ends Sunday, April 21, at 11:59 pm, CST.  Winner will be randomly drawn and notified by email.  The top of this post will be updated with the winner’s name.  US addresses only, please.

Just for fun… when was your last manicure?  Are you a “polish at all times” kinda girl or a “naked nails” kinda girl?  I prefer polish on my toes at all times in the summer, but if you happen to see chipped polish on my big toe only in January?  Well… yeah.  That’s how I roll.

  1. My last manicure might have been for my wedding. Pedicures are something I do indulge in – maybe every 3 months or so. More during summer. I need one now!

  2. My last manicure was in October for a wedding I was in. I rarely get them because polish just doesn’t stay on my nails more than 24 hours. I can’t stand chipped polish (or sitting still waiting for them to dry!) so I’m a “naked nails” girl. But my toes are always freshly polished! I get a pedicure every 2 or 3 months.

  3. Sure wait until Prom is OVER to pull this off….My daughter had to have “fake” nails and her date become obcessed with them and actually pulled them off before the night was half over…..

  4. Hi Amy! Love the photo of you and hubs! The fingernails look like so much fun! Thanks for hosting the giveaway! I haven’t had a manicure in *gasp* 12 years! I’ve never had a pedicure but I sure would like to! I also only paint my toenails in the summer, never my fingernails! It wouldn’t stay on very long with all the things I do! Blessings from Bama!

Never had a mani or pedi, but I am a naked fingernails and polish on toes at all times!

  6. I just recently started painting my nails. I had a manicure when I got married 12 years ago.

  7. I like having a pedicure on my toesies. Still have a little bit of polish on my left big toe from my last one in 2012. I debate whether to pull out the polish remover to take it off but apparently I have not been bare foot enough for it to bother me. The Jamberry nails look like so much fun! Don’t know how you would pick just one.

  8. I think my last manicure was 9 years ago for my wedding! I have recently been taking the time to keep my nails painted though. Just something I’ve been doing for myself and it really only takes a few minutes!

  9. I think my last manicure was for my wedding over 5 years ago. I try to keep my toe nails painted in the summer, but that doesn’t always happen either. 🙂

The jamberry’s look like so much fun. My one and only manicure was almost 11 years ago for my wedding. I usually paint my toes in the summer but never my fingers. My last pedicure was given to me by my 6 year old daughter so there was more polish on the skin then the nail!

  11. Almost never on my fingers, randomly on toes ( usually when 4 yr old asks)

  12. Wow, I’m an outlier! I get a pedicure once a month and always have toenail polish on. I go through phases on manicures and am currently in a naked fingernails phase.

My last manicure was a few years ago for my husband Christmas dinner. Although I just bought a coupon on Amazon local for a mani/pesos at a local salon. I’m so excited for that.

  14. My last (and only) manicure was for my wedding in 2002. I only do polish on toes during flip flop season.
