New Year’s Eve Time Capsule ~ Free Printable

I don’t remember the first year I posted one of these (2011 maybe?), but I do remember a kind reader asking me if I had one last year, and I didn’t! (Oh, the guilt!) New Year’s celebrations can be fun for the whole family as we look back on the past year and look forward to goals and plans for 2016. You can download this free printable for the kids to fill out. Stash them away in a safe place, or keep them in a time capsule along with a few of your favorite things to open up next year!

If you’re an adrenaline junkie and can get it together in a day (nothing like the last minute!), I love these New Year’s Eve Countdown Bags from Hoosier Homemade. Enjoy!

(PS ~ My year in blog stats email came yesterday. Nineteen posts in 2015. Pitiful! I used to write more than that in a month! No promises, but gosh I miss this place. “Stop” is my word of the year and I’m hoping its reminders will help me get back to my favorite things and GO.)

What are your plans for ringing in the New Year? We haven’t even made any yet, but I owe my 8yo a clothes shopping trip, so we might do that tomorrow. Then we’ll likely fix some fun food, play some games, maybe watch a movie, and call it a night (likely with extra kids at the house)! I also have an essential oils class to get written and published before Friday. Here goes!

  1. Thank you! I’m not sure if I was the one asking last year, but we did look for them. NO guilt, you are a busy mama! But I am really excited to do this again this year. We did put together a big envelope of stuff two years ago with these, some of their (many) drawings and odds and ends. I honestly don’t remember what we did last year. We are considering our time capsules buried because they are somewhere in the stacks of papers in a drawer somewhere. It will be a blast when we find them….whenever that is 🙂 This year we’ll grab another big envelope and fill it up! Thank you and Happy New Year!

    • Oh, the drawings and handwriting are so fun to look back on! (Your stacks of papers in a drawer somewhere could be friends with my stacks of papers in a drawer somewhere. 😉 )

  2. Thank you so much for this! My kids have been filling them out since 2011. Last year I made my own based on your previous years template, but yours looks so much nicer! We get a kick out of reading the old ones each year when we fill out the new ones. Thanks again & Happy New Year!!

  3. Thank you for doing these. I still make my 19yo, 17yo and 11yo fill them out. I do one too. What a great snapshot of life for the scrapbooks (I’ll put together someday).

  4. Oh, I love this idea! How fun and creative!!

  5. Looks like life has gotten busy in your neck of the woods. I hope everyone is healthy. I’ll have to create my own this year because our whole family fills out one each year. My kids are now 12, 18 and 20. It’s tradition, thanks to you!

    • Blogging… WAY back burner. I’m so sorry about the Time Capsule printable! I completely forgot about it until a few people asked and it was too late.
