Not so fast, fall. I’m not finished with you yet. Don’t go!
We were thrilled to go through all of September (and some of August, even!) without the air conditioner, but already this weekend we had to turn on the heat. It was 60° in the house yesterday! I can handle 65°, but 60°? Not so much.
Here’s what we’re eating this week:
Sunday, October 11
- peanut butter toast
- clean out the fridge
- sausage, eggs, hashbrowns
Weekday Breakfasts: blueberry pancakes with strawberry sauce, sunrise sausage bake (recipe this week), oatmeal with raisins, lazy granola
Weekday Lunches: leftovers, pb&j, grilled cheese, quesadillas, fresh fruit and veggies
Suppertime
- loaded tostadas
- chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, sauteed squash and zucchini
- homemade pizza or pizza braid
- 15 bean/ham soup, cornbread
- game night sandwiches, fruit, snacks
Saturday, October 17
- football breakfast: ham & sausage breakfast casserole, mom’s cinnamon rolls, fruit
- clean out the fridge
- wedding dinner for a high school friend

Ooooo…chicken fried steak:-)
How do you make your 15 bean soup? I follow the direction on the bag of beans exactly and my soup comes out VERY thick and mushy. Almost like refried beans (that’s a bit of an exaggeration). It tastes great but is so unappetizing in appearance. Any suggestions?
Yummy week!
I hear you on the cold weather… it’s 35 here this morning…, and it snowed by my parents over the weekend. Fall… come back!!
Sounds delicious, as always! I have 15 bean soup on the menu this week, too. One of our favorites, served with salsa verde.
Have a great week!
Sounds yummy! I have your Tostadas on my plan this week. I never got around to trying your Chicken Fried Steak, I need to add that back in for Nov.
Thanks for sharing!

I hear you on the cold weather. Had to turn the heat on a few weeks ago, and am having a hard time adjusting. I know that I kept the house around 66 last winter, but right now even 68 feels cold! I have lots of soups & roasted veggies on the menu to help keep me warm.
Amy, this has nothing to do with cooking – or maybe everything…what size town are you in? My husband and I are praying about small town life.
Thank you
Michelle
