This is it! The first week of school. While not looking forward to the early mornings, I am so looking forward to a better routine for all of us. And football. Gotta love high school football!
On Friday, we host the annual pre-season football ice cream social for all the football families. Sometime this week I need to make a freezer of Butterfinger ice cream and a freezer of Reese’s peanut butter cup ice cream. Oh, how I hope there are leftovers!
I’m planning to make a pretty solid supper each evening this week so that we can enjoy leftovers on the weekend. We’re gonna be tired!
Sunday, August 23
- scrambled eggs, blueberry overnight coffeecake
- roast, carrots, mashed potatoes and gravy
- snacky supper: fresh fruit, free yogurt drinks, a few leftovers
Breakfast Plans
- First Day of School: My school girl has requested cereal, of all things. Guess that tells you how much of a treat it really is around here.
I suppose Cheerios and bananas might be a good thing for that first big morning rush. - mushroom spinach omelet with leftover blueberry overnight coffeecake
- french toast
- peanut butter baked oatmeal (been meaning to make this for three weeks!)
- leftover oatmeal, or granola, or cereal
Supper Plans
- crescent taco pie (recipe tomorrow) with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and watermelon
- chicken squash bake, french bread, watermelon
- roast beef burritos with lettuce, cheese, sour cream; fried zucchini and fresh fruit
- cheesy broccoli and rice with chicken, easy batter rolls
- BLTs with fresh fruit and veggies
Big breakfasts and leftovers for the weekend!
