Menu Plan, Week of April 25

I’m not the only one, am I? Browsing through blogs, my eye catches a recipe. I know I want to try it. I know I should add it to my menu plan. But, I’ll do it later. Ha! And then later? I either forget all about it or forget where I saw it in the first place.

I wonder if this will help.  Springpad is a free personal organizer to keep favorite web pages in one place: recipes, notes, restaurants, books, movies, music, tasks & more.  I like the idea better than using my own bookmarks, because we’ve recently had computer issues and have lost our bookmarks on more than one occasion.  Grrr… If you use Springpad, let me know about your experience, okay?

On to this week’s menu!

Sunday, April 25

Weekday Breakfasts - lazy granola, eggs (fried, scrambled, omelets) with muffins or toast, breakfast burritos, oatmeal with raisins

Weekday Lunches – leftovers, sandwiches (pb&j or grilled cheese) with carrot sticks and fruit, quesadillas, snack lunch tray

I used springpad for around 6 months this year. I really liked having everything in one place. I also loved hte idea of being able to share my recipes/find recipes in communities. I also used tools to make paking lists, to do lists and plan a date night with my husband. The real down side, for me, was that the interface was a little cumbersome , and the lists weren’t always able to do what I wanted them to do. I also really like to be able to carry items forward (recurring) from month to month (e.g. breakfast and pasta nights are weekly, almost every week of the year). I don’t think you can have a recurrring weekly meal in springpad without entering it in each week. I may switch back in the future, but for now, I’m exploring other options. I’m anxious to hear what others think, and if they have had luck solving the roadblocks I’ve come up against.

  4. Thanks for the link to Spring Pad. I have been looking for a better way to save my bookmarks!!

I’ve never used Spring Pad, but it sounds intriguing! I’m notorious for forgetting about where I saw recipes… *blush*

I’m serving up your layered shrimp dip for lunch today- the kids are excited!:) Hope you enjoy the apple muffins!

Deviled eggs sound really good right now. And the chicken enchilada recipe looks great. How many pans’ worth does that recipe make do you think, so I can plan ahead and make room in the freezer?

  7. Sherry says:

Yummy! Can I come to your house for enchiladas? LOL! ;)

    Have a great Monday!

I have used Springpad before. Personally, I did not like it. I used it for a few weeks hoping that I would change my mind. Now, I use Ziplist. I came accross it on a blog. It doesn’t do everything that Springpad does, it’s all about recipes. I like it bc I can add my grocery stores to my profile. Once I add a recipe’s ingredients to my list, I can divide them by what store I’m going to if I’m going to more then one. I can also email my shopping list to anyone that I need to. It’s the same format as Springpad, but I think Ziplist works better for me.

I’m intrigued by the whole Springpad idea. I have so many bookmarks I don’t really know what I have! Thanks for the link.
