familyfavs 11 300x130 Menu Plan Christmas Week

It’s another Family Favorites Edition of Menu Plan Monday at Orgjunkie.com.  Perfect timing, because we’re having lots of favorite foods this week at our Christmas celebrations!  And while I normally plan just for suppers during the week, when school’s out I’m on full meal-cookin’ duty.  Here’s what our week looks like:

Sunday, December 21

  • banana blueberry pancakes
  • chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans (a family favorite meal!)
  • One of those nights:  here’s what was consumed by various residents of my home at some point between steak and bedtime… chunks of ham as I pulled it off the bone, a couple bananas, 1/2 of an apple, the other mangled 1/2 of said apple (it’s been a long time since I’ve eaten a whole apple all by myself… but I refuse to waste a 1/2 eaten apple), three hard boiled eggs, the odd-sized loaf of special banana bread that we made for our neighbors, and a nuts/snack mix from one of Lance’s students

Monday, December 22

Tuesday, December 23

  • waffles
  • clean out the fridge
  • Heading out to my parents’ today:  supper will be mom’s homemade chicken noodles and my cinnamon rolls.  We’ll probably eat an early supper and then snack all evening while playing cards (5 and 10 point pitch).  I anticipate some cold shrimp and cocktail sauce (a Christmas tradition), a dip or two with crackers and chips, fresh fruit and cookies.  We’ll probably take some Reese’s cookies to share.  I’ll also take the makings of cranberry citrus drink for my family to enjoy, because we just can’t get enough of it right now.

Wednesday, December 24

  • Still at my parents’.  I don’t know all the details, but I do know that mom has two breakfast casseroles waiting in the fridge.  I’m guessing some grilled sausage, fruit, and leftover cinnamon rolls will round out the meal.
  • brisket, ham, cheesy potato casserole, vegetable, salad, dessert
  • still hungry?  Mom says “I’m sure we’ll find something to eat.”  Gosh mom… ya think!?!

Thursday, December 25

  • maybe some smoothies after I open my new blender from the kids ;-)
  • at the inlaws.  Meal plans have not yet been made, but I think I’ll volunteer to take strawberry pretzel salad and some cookies
  • still at the in-laws, we’ll finish up whatever’s left from dinner and break out some snacks like layered shrimp spread

Friday, December 26

  • ham and cheese omelet, toast
  • 15 bean soup, cornbread
  • hmmm, nothing sounds good… I’m thinking popcorn, apple slices and cheese

Saturday, December 27

  • waffles, eggs
  • sandwiches, smoothies
  • leftovers, clean out the fridge OR we might be back at the in-laws celebrating our nephew’s birthday

Have a blessed Christmas week, everyone!

Chicken Fried Steak sounds comforting right now. It’s been very cold in Vegas this winter.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
