Make Time for Family Fun with the #GlobieFamily {A Fresh Start}

A Fresh Start ~  from

On our January calendar is a day marked “Surprise!”  Our children feign disdain, “I hate it when you write ‘surprise’!  Why can’t you just tell us?!” but they know something fun is coming up.  😉

Harlem Globetrotters

We’re a sports-loving family, and the kids will go nuts when we show up at a big arena and the Harlem Globetrotters take the court!  (I can’t wait!)  I just need to figure out what to do with the littles while we’re there…

Quality family fun is so important, and takes a little effort to come by at times.  During the years when we have an infant in the house, the stars have to align for us to even enjoy a meal together at our table.  And long trips or vacations?  Forgetaboutit.  At least for now.

Even without a trek across the country, fun can be had, and with A Fresh Start in the new year, we’re recommitting to good times!

Short and Sweet

Family fun doesn’t have to be a stressful, planned out event.  If it’s nice outside when the kids get home from school, sometimes we head out for a walk and some playing at the park.  My big kids are especially thrilled if mom will drop the to-do list and put the baby down long enough to play a game of  “horse” on the basketball court.  They aren’t as excited when I win, of course.  😉

Play Local

Even in our rural area, there is fun to be had!  Every year we mark our calendar for the county fair and a local rodeo.  There’s Santa Day in December and special swimming/park days in the summer.  We don’t have to travel far (or at all!) to find a good time, and local events cost very little.

Home Sweet Home

Who says you have to go anywhere or spend anything to have fun?  Some of the best memories are made under your own roof!  Build a fort, play a game, cook a meal together.  Enjoy family movie night with popcorn and smoothies.  Spend a lazy weekend morning reading books in your jammies.  (Ok, fine.  I don’t really know what a lazy weekend morning is right now, either.)

This year, recommit some time and resources to your own family.  Have fun with it!  You’ll be glad you did.

The Harlem Globetrotters love seeing families laugh together during our games, and would love to see your family when we come to a city near you.  If you’re looking for an awesome event the whole family will enjoy, get your tickets to the Harlem Globetrotters “You Write the Rules” tour.  Your family’s smiles will start before you even get to the game because this year, your family can vote at, and decide rules for the game like two balls in play at the same time that could affect the final outcome. After the game, Globetrotters will stay on court to sign autographs and take photographs with your kids.  The only thing better than finding an event the whole family will enjoy, is getting a great deal on it.  Save $7 per ticket* by using the promo code “TOGETHER“.  Get ready to experience a show your family will remember for a lifetime!  *Discount available on select ticket levels”

Disclosure:  The Harlem Globetrotters sent my family 4 tickets to their show in exchange for this post.  It worked out beautifully, because I *almost* bought tickets last fall and decided we just couldn’t swing it.  And now we can!  Yay!  Will I see any of you there?

  1. My son was born in 2000 and we got a free for life pass for him, but we’ve never been to a game so far. I just looked and the Globetrotters are in our area— tonight and tomorrow night. And a storm is moving in, so I don’t even know if we would be able to get out. I will check back with the site in the near future though and check it out. I have seen them on tv a time or two and it looks like a lot of fun.

  2. What will you do with the little ones you ask? Ask and you shall receive. I would be thrilled to watch the litte ones.:):) Just need the date.
