Lighten Up {A Fresh Start}

A Fresh Start ~  from AmysFinerThings.com

As I discover the vitamins, which were not put away in the cabinet again, I ask her, “Why don’t you just put things away when you’re finished with them?”

With an ornery grin and without missing a beat, while buttering her morning toast, she replies, “Because I’m just like you.”

Well, then!

Giggling now, “What?!  Daddy says I’m just like you all the time!”

To make matters worse (better?) her dad was standing right behind me.  I turn to him, and what effort he had been making to hide his grin was lost in our eye contact.  We all three bust out laughing.

Oh my word, they are so right!

Oh my word, they are so on to me!

I could’ve been upset.  That really wasn’t terribly respectful, but oh my word it was true!  And funny!  And what a joy to have a child with a witty, quick sense of humor!

Lighten up, Mom.  You make mistakes, too.  It’s not all that bad.  ;)

    The world is a better place with one more ‘you’. :)

    Love this, Amy, as I have a mini-me as well! :) It amazes me how often I find myself exasperated with something she has done, only to realize it’s just another way in which she is just like me. A constant lesson in patience and grace. :)

    Yep! I find myself, more often then not, telling the boys, “We’re gonna work on (insert fault) *together*!” ;) ))

  4. Lol! Thanks for this post. I tend to take life too seriously and know I need to lighten up!

    Ha ha!! Thanks for sharing :)

  6. I’m not sure which I hate most- seeing myself in my daughter, or seeing my Mother in myself!

    I’m working on lightening up this year, too!

      Yes! I hear ya. Would LOVE to see the good in my reflected in my daughter, but it’s not ALL good. ;) And as for my mom, I hear her voice around the house all the time, especially when she’s NOT here! Ha!

    Before I even read the post, I thought to myself: “Wow. She looks just like Amy!” She is absolutely beautiful. And c’mon, you have to admit, her mama is quite witty too. :-)
