Late Night Randomness {Finer Things Friday}

So.  The touch pad on my laptop quit working this evening.  Notsomuch a Finer Thing, but life is good.  I’d love to chat more about my week, but we’re out of town and I’m on borrowed time with a wireless mouse.  In a nutshell…

*** Our oldest is at her very first overnight camp, and tears were few and far between when we left her.  Pretty sure she did okay, too.  😉

*** “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” has been rewritten.  Did you know?  Lance took the 5yo to his very first Royals baseball game Tuesday night.  We couldn’t help but laugh tonight when we heard “Give me some peanut butter and cracker jacks…”

*** We’re staying with a childhood friend this week.  Oh, the stories we could tell!  There is much history, and really, we should just write a book, but oh what fun it’s been to watch our own children playing together after living next to each other for several years as kids!

*** Speaking of friends, I got to hang out with a delightful bloggy friend today.  Mary, from Giving Up On Perfect, and her daughter joined us for lunch at Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant.  Do you know Fritz’s?  So fun!  (And no, they did not pay me or even give me a free meal to say that.  Sure wish I would’ve thought to ask, though!)  And yes, yes it was quite sunny out today.  Please excuse the wrinkles.

*** My “wild card” child turns 4 tomorrow.  She’s pretty much gonna flip when she sees my friend’s kitchen all decorated for a little surprise pink sprinkled donuts breakfast in the morning.  Can’t wait!

Ok.  Time’s up.  It’s 11:23 and the baby is still up.  Oh, and he’s nearly walking!  (Somebody stop time.  Please.)

What Finer Things are you celebrating this week?

  1. My youngest loves those pink sprinkled donuts too! I’m tellin’ ya, I’m gonna make my way to Kansas very soon! ;o) Mine didn’t make it through sleep-a-way camp this year… 🙁 What’s your secret?

    • No secrets. Definitely a personality thing, I think. She’s my adventurous, makes friends easily, girl. We have to hold her back a little. 😉

  2. I feel FINER knowing that I’ve taken care of my family if something should happen to me. 🙂

  3. I know how you feel, my one year started walking and my computer crashed and my printer broke and I’m heading out of town for three days and God is in control. Have a blessed day, thanks for taking time to host, my friend.

  4. Oh no!! C’mon touchpad…get back to work!! (And here I just sent you a silly, whiney email about something less important.)

  5. How fun! Those pink sprinkled donuts are a hit in our house too!

My “wild card” child turned 6 last week. It must be a middle child thing. 😉 My baby boy turns one tomorrow. Where did the year go?

  6. Wow….the things we have in common! My oldest daughter (12 yr old) is on her first mission trip this week. It’s her first time away from home (Mon-Sat) and there is NO communication at all. That part is the hardest part. Things went well through Wednesday, and after that I just wanted to hear her voice. I can’t wait to see her tomorrow!!!

I also just got back from visiting a childhood friend. Our families are also super close and we grew up next to each other. It was great to spend the week together and see our girls boogie board with each other. 🙂

Hope your laptop situation gets fixed soon!

  7. Today, I’m celebrating our last baby turning 1!!! Okay, and crying a bit too. It’s bittersweet. I cannot believe she’s already 1. I’m enjoying the blessing of being at home with my girls (even though the spanking spoon’s been used and there’s a little chaos). Thanking God for blessing me so richly 🙂

  8. Lindsey says:

So enjoy reading your blog, especially the series on childbirth/pregnancy! I am from KC and now live in central KS with my farmer husband and 2 kiddos (3 and 6 months). We enjoy Fritz’s too! Have you taken the kids to Kaleidoscope? That is always fun and free!

    • We haven’t done Kaleidoscope, but will have to put it on our list for next time! (Is your farm affected by this nasty drought, or have you had enough rain in your area?)

  9. Childhood friends are truly a finer thing. There are few people in life who have ever understood me as well as my friends from childhood even though I may see them only once every few months. Enjoy your time 🙂
