At the risk of feeling your eyes roll… I must give props to my sweet husband this week. Last Friday we were making plans (yet again) to attend a ballgame nearly an hour away. I could have gone, but I just wasn’t in the mood. Four issues:
- I wanted to get Lent started right and attend Stations of the Cross at 6:00.
- The game started at 7:30 (an hour away).
- My toddler goes to bed at 7:00.
- I covet my quiet time in the evenings.
I emailed him at work, suggesting that the toddler and I stay back to go to church and get her to bed on time. (um, knowing full well that I was using her as an excuse to stay home) Wanna know his response?
The game is at 7:30. I could take them all. You could have the evening to yourself. Church and writing for hours! I could take jammies and change them on the way back so they were ready to sleep on the way home. Just a thought.
I kid you not! They left at 5:00 to have supper with his parents on the way to the game (I sent food) and they were gone until 10:00. He carried them in one at a time… in their jammies! Ahhhh
Then… Saturday happened. The plan was for my husband to help his parents at the farm (his dad is home now, but faces months of healing) and I would meet him with the kids later that day and we’d, you guessed it, go to another ballgame. The Regional Championship… I was excited…
… until I got a splitting headache. I don’t often get headaches, and this one was a doozy! He’s in his overalls ready to walk out the door, and I am in tears trying to figure out how to care for my children while in such pain.
Thirty minutes later Lance pulls out of the driveway with the children… again. I laid down at 11:08 to “sleep it off for a couple of hours” and woke up without a headache at (are you ready for this?) 4:40!!!!! Guess my body needed some rest.
Whatever would I do without that man of mine?!? I am grateful for him.
Head on over to Laura’s place for more Gratituesday.
