It’s Not Head Lice

I wish she had head lice.

Then I could be in control.  I would know the outcome, and I’d even have a much-needed kick in the pants to get my home deep cleaned.

But it’s not head lice.

My six-year-old is plagued by moles.  On her head.  And they’re coming off tomorrow.

We’ve been joking that she’s having plastic surgery, but it’s only a little bit funny.  A plastic surgeon truly is meeting my daughter in the operating room tomorrow morning to remove the pesky moles.  Most likely, they are harmless.  For now. But we don’t mess around with for now at our house.  After my melanoma diagnosis last year, for now gets assaulted.

When worry rears its ugly head, I am reminded of what we studied in confirmation class last week.

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going.  How can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.  If you know me, you will know my Father.”

John 14: 5,6

I don’t know where God is going with this mole thing, or any other thing in my life, reallyI’m just along for the ride, enjoying the journey and trusting him.

“If you know me, you will know my Father.”

In the end, that’s all that matters.

I covet your prayers for a speedy “plastic surgery” and a benign diagnosis.

My husband had to have this done quite recently , he said the doc did it so fast(and painlessly) he was still waiting for him to do it by time he said he was done.

My thoughts are with you and yours

@happyhermit, Yes, no biggie for adults. For 6-year-olds they use a pediatric anesthesiologist and do the whole sedation thing. We’re expected to be there for about 5 hours total. I’m sure she’ll do fine!

I totally understand your worry and praying it will all work out just fine! We have dealt with a childhood illness with my son since he was 2 and we are stuck in “a stable for now” diagnosis which is the best we can get right now, and my mommy heart worries and prays about it a lot!

  8. Sheila says:

Yup, lice is worse than moles, but you can make it through. Wish her a great easy recovery from the doc visit. :)
