It Could be Worse

Tonight was pizza night.  I was so excited to try Sherry’s Italian Herb Dough for our crust.  Well, things don’t always go as planned when you’re a mom trying to do 23 things at once.  When the initial shock and disappointment and anger (how can I be so stupid?) from this disaster incident wore off this afternoon, Lance and I were able to give thanks.  Hey, we were even able to laugh about it… a little.   ;-)

  • There was no fire this time.  (yes, there was another time, same oven, same rising of the dough, same absentminded cook)
  • No one was hurt.
  • That big, awesome Tupperware bowl (may it rest in peace, amen) cost me only 50 cents at a garage sale.
  • We got a good laugh or two when the kids asked if we were having cheese pizza.  (No, children.  That would be melted yellow plastic, dear ones, not cheese.)
  • We didn’t go hungry.  In fact I was able to throw together a quick spaghetti dinner with corn and toast on homemade bread in about the amount of time it would have taken the pizza to bake.  Always have a Plan B!
  • We have a self-cleaning feature (that I should totally use a little lot more often) on our oven.
  • Instant blogging fodder.  In Lance’s words:  “Well, at least you can blog about it.”

Give thanks in all circumstances…

Glad to know I’m not the only absent-minded cook. :)

happy you saved the day with a second meal and I love the outlook you take on such events. I may of panicked, screamed and then sent out for pizza. Lol

Yup, I’ve had to cook some ‘plan b’ meals before, too! Glad it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. :)

I only laugh because it’s only a matter of time befor I do that exact thing. On the other hand, that pizza sounds yummy, sounds like dinner tonight! Thanks for the idea.

Funny! It is always good when you can laugh about it! Plan B is always good (well, hopefully it at least tastes better than the original meal that was messed up or terrible tasting!)
God Bless

You handled it well and put a terrific sounding meal on the table…that’s all that matters. All this talk of food and menu planning has my taste buds hopping!!

The hope of “blog fodder” is all that gets me through some days… and why I run for the camera before saving or de-messing my kids :)
