I’ll Be Wearing Me

What are you wearing to Blissdom?

That’s the question heard ’round the blogosphere as of late.

Yes, I’m going to Blissdom!  I can’t wait to meet my fabulous blogging friends in real life, and stay up all night chatting, and maybe learn a little something about making this a better blog.  It’s quite the perk that Harry will be there, and I’ve even heard that they give all sorts of goodies away throughout the weekend.  Fun!

What’s not fun for this low-maintenance Mama?  Worrying about what to wear. What colors or styles and prints or solids and heels or flats and shiny or matte and curly or straight and silver or gold (or platinum?).  That’s not my thing.

So I’m not gonna.

I’ll pack my six-year-old boots.  Might polish my toenails and file my fingernails.  If I have time, I’ll schedule an appointment to get my hair trimmed.

Other than that?   I’ll take a cue from my girls:

Blissdom beware:  I’ll be wearing me. (And I hope you’ll be wearing You, too.)

I think that’s awesome, be who you are, and I’m with you, I’ll be wearing me too!

  2. Oh, THANK YOU!! I’ve not attended a blog conference yet but am always glad I didn’t when I see how much “what are you wearing” goes into it. Just not my thing. Knowing that’s what everyone was obsessing about beforehand convinces me that it’s not for me. Nice to know there are some other women on the other side of things like myself. *big sigh*

Thanks for this! I think it’s so easy to slip into putting too much (unnecessary) emphasis on what to wear. :) Can’t wait for Blissdom – hope to meet you!

  4. I made a pact with my hubby that I would not buy anything new for Blissdom so several of my friends are coming over to help me re-purpose some of the clothes in my closet in to outfits I may not have thought of.

  5. Myra says:

I’m going to be digging through my closet to find things to wear from there! :)

And I think wearing ourselves, we will be most comfortable! :)

  6. Hilarious and wonderful post! This is my first BlissDom, and I was starting to get a little anxious, but this reminded me to settle down and know that everyone likely feels the same way! : )

so true…thanks for the encouragement on day-to-day living! :-)

    blessings!

Glad to hear that I won’t be the only “Myself” there! Great post, Amy…as always!

Super cute pic to go with it too!

  9. Tiffany says:

A great message and reminder! Guess I should have no worries too! :)

  10. Christine says:

    Right there with ya!

  11. Sandy says:

I just started up a new blog. I hope that one day I can go to Blissdom too! What a cool idea to have a conference for bloggers. Have fun!!!

  12. Love, love, love that picture!!! Yes,our girls would get along just fine! Oh how I wish I was going to Blissdom, too. Maybe next year. Have fun wearing yourself!

  13. Meredith says:

Amy, this may be my favorite Blissdom post–ever! Thanks for speaking the truth in such a gentle and humorous way.

I’ll be wearing my own self, too.

  14. I am not going to Blissdom :( But if I were I’d have to say clothing wouldn’t even have crossed my mind! I probably wouldn’t have given it a thought until I noticed everyone else was dressed nice and I wasn’t! Even if you aren’t buying new clothing though, IF I were going, I would actually appreciate the posts that show what others are wearing because I would have NO IDEA where to begin dressing for an event like that!

  15. You’ll be wearing you and sitting next to me. Don’t worry, I’ll be wearing me too.

  16. Sounds and looks perfect!

I might be dressing up a tad from the yoga pants and sweats I normally wear around town, but underneath it all, it’ll still be the same me, too.

  17. Amy says:

Good reminder :) I find BlissDom was the perfect excuse to add one new piece to the wardrobe and one great pair of shoes. Wear whatever makes you feel confident and I promise you, that is what is going to make you a standout at the conference. I can’t wait to meet you!

  18. I love this! SO true! And you know what? That’s all anybody will care about- seeing YOU! I can’t wait for Blissdom and hope to meet you there. I’ll be the pudgy preggers red head. I’m sure there won’t be many of us there! ha!
PS- I didn’t even KNOW there was a cocktail party last year and wore jeans. And nobody even noticed. :)

      You’ve got Blissdom experience, then. :) It’s quite overwhelming for this newbie who’s never been away from her family and hasn’t flown in 11 years. {bites nails}

  19. Alyssa says:

I am with you, this year I won’t have any extra money to buy anything new so to the closet I go!
    Can’t wait to “meet” you.

  20. Stephanie says:

Your girls are so beautiful, Amy…and I love their sense of style! :)

You are going to be fabulous…just being you. I loved this post because clothes don’t really matter. Your heart is what matters most…and you have a lovely one.

Have a great time at Blissdom!

  21. Amen!

I will admit that I bought three new shirts, but I was needing a couple of new things anyway. And, I only bought the last two because I got them for $6.99 each (one was originally $45) on clearance.

Thanks for the encouragement to just be ourselves!
