I thought you should know.

Do you know my friend Connie? You should. She’s hilarious. And insightful. And smart. I want to be Connie when I grow up.  Connie wrote a post just for me in December, and it ended up being her most viewed post of the whole year.

It’s awesome.

You should read it.

    • I’ve felt the prayers. And now I’m gliding {ahem} through the second trimester. If this house can ever just get back together, we’ll be good to go!

  33. Super awesome news! Thanks for sharing it with us! 🙂 Will be praying for you during this season! 🙂

  36. Congrats Amy!!! Praying for you 🙂

  37. Six kids, Amy! Like my brother tells anyone with children, no matter how few or how many, “That’s a good start!”

We have six in our family and I’m so glad for all my siblings. Growing up, I thought six was the bare minimum number of children required to make a family. I look at these things a little differently now that I’ve experienced labor and delivery myself! (I’m already hoping I’ll have lots more.)

But as my sister-in-law (despite tough pregnancies and long labors) says, all the joy and laughter and sweetness that each child brings to every day of life for the years to come is totally worth all those hours of labor, and I would add, totally worth nine months of tiredness and discomfort, etc. Keep your heart fixed on that incredible moment when they dump what feels like a pile of thawed chicken quarters on your chest . . . and then that pile starts crying and you see that scrunched-up, messy little face and boom! you’re full of all this love for someone you’ve never met before and you never want to be without that little person!

Looking back on the years of dealing with infertility, wouldn’t you have been SHOCKED to look ahead to all these kids God has blessed you with? All those prayers we prayed, and God was smiling and saying, “Oh just wait! Have I got good stuff in store for you!”

    • “Growing up, I thought six was the bare minimum number of children required to make a family. ” Ha! I love that!

You could NEVER have told me during those rough years that there would eventually be six. SIX! Crazy!

  38. So happy for you guys! And I totally agree that God will provide what you need. And agree with Maria when I think of your story of struggle to have a family. God’s blessings are raining down (and getting dirty and playing and fighting and so on) on you, aren’t they! We are open to what God sends and had 3 in pretty short order. Now we’ve had a bit of a break and I often wonder if there is a 4th out there for us…time will tell. But 6 is a great number of kids, both my parents came from families of 6. Lots of fun as the grandkids because we had lots of cousins and aunts and uncles! Blessings on you, baby and your whole family for a great pregnancy!

  39. Congrats!! I remember reading that post over on Smockity Frocks. Never guessed it was about you!! Happy for y’all! 🙂

  40. Big congrats! What a great way to announce such special news! Wishing the best for you and your family.

  41. How amazing! Congratulations! I was wondering (and hoping) when you were blogging less lately. Not that 5 kids, Christmas and a hole in your house weren’t reason enough to cut back on blogging…lol! So happy for you and thanks for sharing! Will be praying you through. I have 10 more weeks with baby #3 and I was a little embarrassed to share the news, too!

  42. Yayayayayayayayayay! Congratulations! <3

  43. Congratulations!
What a wonderful way to share the news.
I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy.

  44. It took me 2 times to click the link and understand, lol. Very excited for you. I currently have 3 kids, the baby is almost 6 months. My husband and I have talked since we found out I was pregnant with #3 if we were “done”, as well as everyone else. I think I want 5 but I was nervous announcing #3.

  45. Nia Hanna says:

I just wanted to say congratulations and blessings all around for you, your Nth baby and your whole family! Reading about your strength and outlook for taking care of your babies and your hubby inspires me to stop with my complaining and follow suit. Just as you say you ‘want to be Connie when you grow up’ I want to be you when I grow up! Thanks for sharing your special news with us Amy. You could have kept it to yourself, but you lovingly shared it with your readers and I appreciate you for that. I hope your littles are letting you get a few more naps and rest in throughout your days!

  46. Aww, Congratulations!!!!! 🙂

  47. Congrats!! And what wonderful time to be getting another bathroom and more space!!

  48. Congratulations! That is exciting news. I’m currently expecting #4. So excited to be pregnant with you, even though I don’t know you!!!

  49. HA! I read that one too and I love that now I know who her friend is!!! 🙂 Congrats to you and congrats to the little one coming to join such a great family 🙂

  50. Jennie C. says:

There with you!!! We struggled with infertility for 11 1/2 years. We adopted 2 kiddos from ETH 9 1/2 years after being married. THEN, we got pregnant 2 years later, had another baby 20 months later and NOW we are pregnant again. : ) There will be 18 months between these 2!!! 3 babies in 4 years, a total of 5 kiddos in 6 years. Wow God! : )

  51. Congratulations!

  52. Yay!! I’ve wondered which of my “larger family” bloggy friends it was!! So happy for you and your precious family!! 🙂

  53. I just found your website through Smockity’s now-famous post. Your pregnancy is fantastic news! Let me tell you, we’ve had some struggles with new additions (via pregnancy and foster-adopt, our kids–so far–are 5, 3, 2, 12m, and 11m, and the youngest three all have special needs). But even when our hearts are struggling, our heads need to remember that God’s way is ALWAYS right and best, and He declares that EVERY child is a blessing and a reward! In our family, we’ve committed that we will take as many as He gives however He chooses to give them. We are so happy for you!

  54. Oh, Amy- congratulations!!!!!!! This “one more” will be such a sweet blessing to your family and so honoring to The Lord- His timing is per.fect. And your friend’s post was spot on! My hubby and I are both the middle of seven and we are so thankful for our siblings!!
I read two blogs to keep me “real” – yours and Life as Mom. Your post today shows me (again!) that I have made the right choice 🙂

    • Thank you so much, Carole. I have long believed that the best gifts I can give my children are 1) Our strong marriage and 2) Their siblings. 🙂
