I Found My Bliss {Link Up!}

So.  I’m not at Blissdom this year.  If you’re not a blogger, that likely means nothing to you, but I’m missing out.  Big time.

I even bought a ticket in October, but sold it when I knew that nausea and traveling wouldn’t mix.  That I wouldn’t get my 4 hour nap on the weekend.  That I likely couldn’t have hashbrowns or apples and peanut butter for every meal.  That survival mode and dressing to impress do not go hand in hand.  That dressing in anything at this stage is either too tight or too frumpy.

So for this year?  I’m embracing my own Bliss.  It looks like this.

(14 weeks.  Due in August!)

My Bliss also looks like this, and sounds like a big sister reading books to her little brother and sister before bed.  My bliss is pancakes with blueberry topping, and my comfy recliner.  It’s my own bed and sleeping in on Saturday morning.

Funny/absolutely embarrassing story:  I was 8 weeks pregnant when I attended Blissdom in 2010 (and had only told 2 close friends), and was just beginning my struggle with food aversions.  Liz from Hoosier Homemade, yes, THE Cupcake Lady, brought us custom made cupcakes… and I couldn’t even look at them!  Had to leave the room, I kid you not, without touching a cupcake!  I felt so bad, and never got to enjoy my Butterfinger Cupcake, and I’m certain everyone thought I was completely out of my mind.  Good grief.

Tonight, in lieu of Finer Things Friday, I’m participating in Found My Bliss.  Join us, won’t you?  Wherever you are, and whatever your circumstance, there is something to celebrate.  Tell us about it!  What is your Bliss?

  1. I was hoping you’d come clean about this! :>) Hooray for babies!

    • Ha! I *needed* to. Thought maybe it’d be a good excuse for all my slacker-blogging lately. 😉

      • Too funny! I had noticed that you hadn’t posted quite as frequently as you had been, and after awhile I thought, “Hmm…something must be up in their house. Wonder what it is. Probably just busy-ness. Guess I’ll never know.” And forgot about it. Ha! 🙂 And congratulations!!

  2. Congratulations!!!!!!!

  3. Wahoo!! So thrilled for you, Mama!

Having the privilege of bringing a new life in this world? Now THAT is bliss.

    (I’m not there either.)

  4. Yay!!!! Such exciting news, Amy. That cryptic tweet earlier got my wheels turning and I was so happy to read this exciting news!

  5. Congratulations!!! Way more exciting that Blissdom 🙂

  6. Congratulations Amy! So excited for you! Bliss indeed. 🙂

  7. WOW!!! Congratulations – that is so wonderful!

  8. Yay! I’m so happy for you!

  9. Yay, yay, yay, loved this announcment!! So excited for your sweet family!

  10. Congratulations again, my sweet friend! I’m glad you’re home and being blissful with us!

  11. Congratulations!! That is so wonderful!

  12. CONGRATULATIONS! Now that is BLISS! Yay for choosing life! I love your blog. I never suspected, but love hearing good news. I don’t blog, but my bliss is all of my little ones…and a wonderful husband!

  13. Congratulations!! What happy, exciting news!! Rejoicing with you!!

  14. CONGRATULATIONS!!! What a blessing!!!

  15. Nancy Thyfault says:

Even though we have never met personally, I love looking through your blog, and have comented a time or two. So Congrats Congrats Congrats to both of you!!

  16. Congratulations, Amy! I’m so happy for you!!!

I almost went to Blissdom again this year, but then decided not to. But, I kept being sad about it. I’m thinking that next year just may be my time to go again.

  17. Holy cow!!! I had to read this post twice to be sure I was reading it correctly! Congrats!! I’m so happy for you!!!

  18. Rebecca Miller says:

Oh my gosh!!! I am so excited! I have been foloowing you for years and nearly started crying when I saw this on FB. My husband asked what was wrong I had to try to explain how excited I was for a woman I have never met to be pregnant. This is amazing!!! Congrats!

  19. Congratulations! If you are still having bad morning sickness try some herbal ginger root tea or ginger in pill form. It was a life saver when I was pregnant. When I was really bad the first trimester I would make some every morning and sip on it throughout the day to help keep it at bay. It is amazing!

  20. Congratulations! What a sweet way to reveal your pregnancy! I hope you have a blissful, relaxing weekend.

  21. Congrats! I am 15 weeks due Mid August with my second. I am finally starting to gain energy back which is good because my 2 year old is only napping for 1 1/2 all of a sudden. Luckily she was a good napper when I needed it the most.

  22. August is a great time to have a baby. Congrats! I could never convince my husband for #5. Enjoy it!

  23. Amy!! I was nursing my little man and thinking about beginning to feel nauseous for the day and almost squealed out loud when I read your announcement. Congratulations!!! 🙂

    • It was killing me not to say anything when you made your announcement a few weeks ago. 😉

      • I bet! I’m so bad about keeping babies a secret. So far, we’ve always told the day we found out. I did pretty well to wait all the way until the end of the week to announce it on the blog when we found out Sunday morning. 😉

We were pregnant at the same time last go around too! These two will be closer though, I think. I didn’t get pregnant until a couple weeks after you made your announcement last time.

Praise the Lord for sweet babies! <3

  24. That is awesome news, Amy! I am not attending Blissdom either (for entirely different reasons 🙂 so glad to have your link-up to read through this weekend!

  25. Nothing but the purest of joy for you, my friend. How blessed I am to see one of my favorite ladies bring another precious life into the world. xoxo

  26. Congratulations – what exciting news!! Hope you get some great periods of feeling “blissful” this weekend!

  27. Congratulations, Amy!

  28. Yay! So excited for you Amy! And thanks for the mention! It was kind of a crazy thing to take cupcakes that far, but also kind of fun!
I’m not at Blissdom this year either, but it’s okay.

  29. Congrats! I bet your little ones are SO excited! My youngest so badly wants to not be the youngest and keeps asking if we can get a baby (I think she believes you order them and pick them up at the store!)

    • Ha! My 4yo is the same way. “Mom, you’re baby’s ready to come out. Your belly is BIG.” As if it were that easy. 😉

      • Katie (almost 3) has been telling me she thinks it’s time for our baby to come out. I think in part because Baby is “making mommy’s tummy feel yucky.” Kids are so CUTE! :o)

        • I NEED to know how all you ladies get your older babies so excited about siblings. My 5 year old wants to take our baby back to the hospital.

          • Ha! As our oldest was jumping around all excited about the new baby when we told the kids, she stopped abruptly, and said “Wait a minute. Why am I excited? That just means more work for me!” We had a GOOD laugh over that one.

Your question sounds like a great blog post. I’ll think on it. 😉

  30. So happy for you. Each one is a blessing, whether it feels like that right now or not! We’re expecting our fourth in July–who will be only 17 months younger than his/her big brother–but I’m one of seven, and I know that being a sibling in a big family is a wonderful thing! (Not sure about having seven myself, but just have to live today, right?!)

  31. Michelle H. says:

  32. Congratulations! I am so excited for you!! That sure sounds like bliss to me. 🙂

  33. Congratulations! I know SO many ladies with babies due in August and September! Our daughter (baby #2) is due in a week and a half!!

  34. Congratulations! That is wonderful news.

  35. So happy for you and your family…and hope you feel good soon, I totally feel for you. With every single one of my pregnancies I was extremely miserable but wow, babies sure make up for it all when you hold them in your arms! 🙂 More special sweetness is headed your way! 🙂

  36. So happy for you! And seriously in awe of your recent posts about working out even more now! We just have had a harder time adjusting to life with three and any type of activity is a challenge now so I’m so impressed with you 🙂 Congrats!!!!

    • Actually, I feel much better when I stay active (unless I’m taking a 4 hour nap, LOL) so I *try* to be a good girl and do my exercising. 😉

  37. Eeek, congratulations Amy!! Such great blessed news! Hope you’re feeling better as time passes.

  38. Congratulations Amy! I’m due with #3 in June – yeah for summer babies! I don’t have a blog, but I had a wonderful bliss moment yesterday. A friend took me and the kiddos out for lunch for my birthday yesterday. I literally laughed out the candle on my dessert because we were having such a wonderful time.

  39. Congratulations!!! What wonderful news. And a good reason to be missing out on the fun. 🙂

  40. Congratulations! How happy. 🙂

  41. Congrats! I am 16 weeks pregnant, also due in August, with my second. You look amazing by the way!! I come from a family of five and absolutely love it, as I know your little ones will. Congrats again!

    • Aw, thanks. 15 weeks tomorrow, and I tend to have my babies early, so we could deliver very close to the same time! Congrats to you, too!

  42. Congrats!!! What blissful news and a great reason to be at home.

So I read your post this morning in my hotel room in Nashville where my husband is attending a tool convention for work. Then as we walk to breakfast, I spot a Blissdom sign. Never heard of it before your post this morning and I’m at the same hotel/convention center — spending my days hanging out with people who sell tools!

  43. Debbie Jennings says:

Congratulations on you New little Bliss! =) Your little bump is adorable!

  44. Congratulations!! Such exciting news!!

  45. Congratulations! I have followed your blog for a couple of years and I can’t believe how my life mirrors yours (not a stalker, just we have many things in common 🙂 .) We are expecting our 5th in July as well. Hope you are feeling better soon!

  46. Congratulations! I’ll be praying for you and your food aversions (my pregnancies have all been full of those). It makes for a very awesome Lent, though!

  47. Congrats and how exciting! You are such a cute pregnant girl!

  48. Congratulations! My bliss is being home alone and enjoying some quiet time. I also love it when my kids are nice to each other and when I get to do things with DH.

  49. Congratulations!

  50. Congratulations!! Your baby bump is so petite and sweet, much cuter than my postpartum muffin-top. 😛

  51. Congratulations to you and your husband and many blessings for your little one!

  52. I feel so close to you through this blog! I jumped out of my chair and said yippee…my hubby came i to see why, he wasn’t as excited but he does hear stories about the blog!!! I am so happy for you and I will pray that God gives you strength to get through this icky time…Keep us posted through the blog! Many many blessings!!!

  53. Excited for you and for me too!! why?? well, i have a daughter who lives out of the country and she is pregnant for the 3rd time. she is on the same timing as you and i think it will be grand to read your thoughts as you experience pregnancy!! They are each different but it will be fun. Can’t wait!!

  54. I thought what?!!? Is Amy pregnant? no, this must be a guest post, then I saw your cute little man. Congratulations!!!

  55. Yay–the Bump Picture!

Miracles do happen, huh? Back when we were praying for #4 for you, we had no clue God would give you #5, too! Your story gives me hope.

We’ve been doing respite for foster families. For a couple days we’ve had a little 2 year old, and today we’ll get 3 more for 24 hours. So we’ll have ages 3, 3, 2, and 19 months. Three boosters and a high chair at our little table. My husband is out picking up a toddler gate.

Blessings to you and your family and Pookie #5!!!

    • Five. Craziness. Sounds like you’ve got your own beautiful, wonderful craziness going on over there! Yay! (PS — Are we still on for Wednesday morning? What time should I be there?)

  56. Amy, I’m a fellow Kansas gal and I’ve been addicted to your blog for sometime! I’m thrilled to read that you’re expecting again! I’m 12 weeks pregnant. Congratulations to you and your family.

    Lindsay in Topeka

  57. I had to read the comments to make sure I had totally NOT missed this big announcement! *whew*

    And YAY, YAY, YAY! Congratulations!

(But, *sniff* I did miss sitting w/you at Blissdom!)

  58. Congrats! What a blissful time in your life.

  59. Congratulations! So fun to have you as a pregnancy buddy this time around. Praying for a healthy baby and pregnancy.

I did not realize that you were pregnant at Blissdom 2010, I was a few months along with Bella at the time, but was over all the nausea.

    • I was only 8 weeks at the time, and hadn’t told anyone. 😉 We like to have a good heartbeat before we tell… too hard to “untell” in case of miscarriage. 🙁

  60. Yay! Congratulations! I found your blog (Why didn’t anyone tell me? posts are so incredible!) while I was TTC and pregnant with my now 5 month old daughter. Looking forward to hearing out it on the blog!

  61. Congratulations, Amy! We missed you at Blissdom but we all take our bliss when we can get it. So excited for you little #5!! I’ll be praying for another healthy and happy pregnancy for you.

  62. Congratulations!!! You have found true bliss!

  63. Congratulations!!!!!

  64. Hooray!! This is so wonderful!!! Congrats 🙂
I am due Aug 21st with our first so it will be nice to have a baby buddy!!

This is the second blog that I read on a regular basis that is due in August… maybe something in the water???

  65. Congratulations!

  66. I missed this because I was a Blissdom but I am FINALLY getting caught up on my reader. THANKS!!!

  67. Congratulations! I am expecting #3 July 21st! I am so excited, never thought I would be a mother of 3! Hope your 2nd trimester is smooth, I have so much energy it is incredible, hope it holds out!
