If you’re participating in the 30 Day Giving Challenge, you may have already noticed: sometimes giving doesn’t go as planned. The best of intentions can be thwarted. Schedules get changed. Your efforts aren’t noticed. Great ideas get lost in the execution.
Just remember, this challenge isn’t about you. It’s about Him.
On Monday, my husband and I were out of town and I was absolutely giddy about Day 1 of the challenge. As we hit the drive thru on our way home that evening, I turned to him and said “Do you mind if we pay for the guy behind us, too? I’ve always wanted to do that!” He was all for it, so we told the cashier. She grinned and said “You got off easy today. His order is only $2.12.”
I was so disappointed. Nearly felt like I had failed Day 1 of the challenge!
It’s not about me, it’s about Him.
Don’t worry about the plan. Giving doesn’t need to be a certain amount: amount of time, amount of effort, amount of money. None of that is important! Be aware of opportunities as they come to you. Be mindful of the ways that you already give throughout your day and week. Be “in the moment” and enjoy the experience. Most of all, be sure to remember that this challenge isn’t about you, it’s about Him.
