A festive beverage for a gathering or a warm-up session with the family, this drink smelled so good that I let it simmer twice as long as I was supposed to. The kids loved it, hubby loved it, I loved it! We get excited about tasty drinks around here, because our normal fare is water, water, and more water. Enjoy the recipe!
Hot Cranberry Citrus Drink
- 6 ounces fresh (or frozen) cranberries
- 5 cups water
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
In a saucepan, bring water and cranberries to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5-7 minutes, until cranberries pop. Stir in remaining ingredients; return to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered for 25-30 minutes. Strain through cheesecloth (or wire strainer); discard pulp and cinnamon sticks (my kids used the cinnamon sticks for stirring sticks — they thought that was the coolest thing). Serve warm. Yield: about 6 cups.

I wouldn’t have thought that a hot cranberry drink would be appealing, but this sounds delicious!

This looks delicious! Our normal fare around here is water and coffee, so when it was time to make a special drink I was a little lost. But, when we do have one it’s a lot of fun.
I sent a friend of mine your way – she’s looking for ways to make food healthier on a budget and I knew you’d be great resource. You do great work!
