High Five {Finer Things Friday}

One of my favorite things about bringing home a new baby is watching sibling interaction.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it again:  Some of the best gifts we give our children are their siblings.

With the older three at school, our 2 year old has been “helping” with the baby.  The other day he got down beside her and started chatting away.  He was tapping her hand and saying something.  When I finally focused, I heard

“High five!  I give high five!”

And that, my friends, is why I’m behind on my cleaning, and folding, and… blogging.  We’re too busy giving high fives.  😉

What Finer Things are you celebrating this week?  Link up and let us know!

  1. So, so, sweet! And I totally agree with you on siblings being a gift we give our kids!

  2. Love it! I remember when my second came along my first who was four and a half years older would freak out if I let the baby cry for more than a few moments. If I did he would start crying too “mommy he needs you!” It did not make for very enjoyable bathroom breaks for mom, but it sure was so sweet.

  3. I’m celebrating being able to make a cake that looks half decent! ha ha Your kids are adorable 🙂

  4. Love it. What a wonderful time with your youngest 2 🙂 High Five!

  5. What a sweet picture! Love the ruffled sleeper. It is precious the way older kiddos interact with their younger siblings.

  6. Thanks for sharing! I feel the same way. We have two children, and we’re pregnant with our 3rd. I love watching them interact, and knowing they will have one another for their whole lives, and hopefully after their Dad and I are gone.

    In 2002 I lost my brother, and I have always been grateful that my parents didn’t stop after having two kids. Thankfully I have three more sisters and a brother who understand me as only siblings can, and who were able to grieve with me through that difficult time. If there had only been two of us, I would now be my parents’ only child. My siblings are the best presents my parents could have given me, and a huge part of who I am today.

  7. You’ve got a smart lil’ guy! I think “giving five” is such a simple thing for lil’ kids to learn and yet, enables them to interact with people, dispite their age or ability to talk. We’ve witnessed the power of this with Keeven, our 5 year old with Down’s. She’ll be the coolest baby in town when she can give “high fives” at 4 months old!!!

  8. I’m right there with you!! I’d write more, but when your newborn is calling, you don’t waste any time!

  9. You’re not behind, Amy. You’re right on time. Enjoy your little ones which IS a finer thing. 🙂

  10. I left my link to a page where I talked about part of my battle with PPD. I accidentally left it on last Friday’s post thinking it was today’s so I reposted. It’s nice to read stories from other mom’s, especially knowing that I’m not the only one who has suffered with it. I also have been incredibly blessed to read about other mom’s day to day worlds being a SAHM. Thanks for continuing to help people connect!

  11. The thumbnail of the picture in this post shows Baby Girl’s name. I see that you blocked it out in the large picture, so I thought you might like to know.
