Hi, Hand! {Finer Things Friday}

It doesn’t look like much, I know.

But oh, if you could hear his giggles!  “Do it again, mom!”

Last night at daddy’s ballgame I pulled out the notebook from my bag-o-keep-them-occupied tricks.  He doodled for a bit, but soon lost interest.  That’s when I grabbed the pen and told him to hold his hand still on the paper.

It’s hard for a 2 year old to hold still, but curiosity kept him from moving.  With the baby in one arm, I traced around his long, skinny fingers with my free hand.  “Ok, move it!”  He looked at me, one eyebrow raised, and didn’t move.

I grinned, lifting his hand for him, and the giggles began.  “It’s my hand!  Do it again, mom!”  Over and over, as the game clock ticked away, we giggled together and traced his fingers, to his utter fascination.  He even “traced” mine.  Do you see it?  😉

Just a sweet, giggly reminder that it’s the little things!  And now I must go trace a hand… again.

What Finer Things are you celebrating this week?  Link up and let us know!

  1. So sweet! We use the same trick, works nearly everytime! 🙂

  2. A lady at the bank used to do that with Madeline. They would even draw rings and watches on!

  3. One of the favorite quiet activities at church. My guy is now 4 and around thanksgiving I showed him how to make turkeys out of traced hands so now he tries to make turkey families with our hand trancings at church.
