Giveaway: Simply Go-Gurt Prize Package

Confession: I stopped buying all but plain yogurt several months ago.  Even when I could get it for free, the more I learned about the questionable ingredients, the more I realized that free doesn’t make it food.

Good news! Yoplait has heard the “real food chorus around the world” and has stepped it up a notch.  From the folks at MyBlogSpark:

New Simply… Go-Gurt is made from simple ingredients moms look for and contains no high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors or flavors. Each convenient portable yogurt tube contains a good source of calcium and vitamin D. Simply stated, Simply… Go-Gurt is a good-for-you, low fat yogurt snack that you can feel good about giving to your kids.

We were sent a fun package from MyBlogSpark and Yoplait, including a coupon for FREE Simply… Go-Gurt, a pocket etch-a-sketch (that my kiddos are trying really hard to take turns with in a calm, friendly fashion), a super-cute day planner, and seat back organizer.

Want one?  Leave a comment below to be entered for the Yoplait “Simplify Your Life” Prize Pack.  Tell me your child’s (or your!) favorite healthy snack.

  100. Elizabeth says:

One of my favorite snacks is a handful of dried fruit. Rich in iron and minerals. Also goes great on plain yogurt. Like you, I try to avoid flavored yogurts because they’re full of unnatural stuff. Glad to hear Yoplait has created a more healthy version! I’d love to win a sample!

  101. MichelleH says:

I was so excited to see healthy Go-gurts! My kids want them because they’re fun, but I just couldn’t do it with all the extra stuff in that tube. Now we can both be happy.

We love soy beans (from the pod or roasted like peanuts) and carrots. For yogurt they get plain with a drizzle of honey and a fruit dipper (apple slices or bananas). Another favorite is butter balls. Nut butter, honey, oats mixed together then rolled in a ball.

  119. Teresa says:

Due to 1 child having braces and 1 losing his front teeth rapid fire we go for grapes, blueberries and apple chunks.

  120. Connie says:

Sadly, Yoplait uses bugs to color their yogurt red. There are other ways to do it, so I’m not sure why they still do. I guess more people need to stop buying them. How do you know which ones have it? Look for carmine (sometimes listed as carminic acid or Natural Red 4) in the list of ingredients.

    To learn more, read http://www.miscfinds4u.com/blog/index.php/2010/04/02/disgusting-food-additives-in-every-day-foods-carminic-acid/

    • @Connie,

Connie, I just checked the ingredients in the new simply Go-gurt in my fridge, and it is only colored with vegetable juice. No Red 4 or any artificial ingredients at all.

You are right, other Yoplait products do contain the bad stuff, but this new simply Go-gurt is a great start towards better choices for health conscious parents like me and you! :)

As for my entry, my kids love grapes, strawberries and yogurt, of course.

  121. Connie says:

That’s good to hear! But note, it is sadly considered “natural”. Does go-gurt use pectin or gelatin? I’m always looking for good-tasting yogurt without gelatin.

    Thanks!

Finally Yoplait! We can finally buy Yoplait. I’ve been avoiding them because of the high fructose but it seems they’ve finally smartened up! It’s a bummer that so many American brands use high fructose. We never eat Kelloggs for that reason.

Anyway, apples slices with natural Adams peanut butter on top is my daughter’s favorite.

  128. Kelli says:

OH and enter me again as I’m a subscriber to your wonderful blog! Love it!

  129. Darla says:

My son’s favorite is cottage cheese (no bad ingredients in that!). Yogurt, though, is a close second. I purchased some Simply Go-gurt recently. Besides its healthful qualities, I appreciate that it does not have the likes of Sponge Bob on it. We don’t condone or promote that kind of humor with our four-year-old.

Thanks for your blog. I truly enjoy it!

  130. anthy says:

I don’t have a child, but my favorite healthy snack is yogurt. :-) After that, probably string cheese!
