Ever try to capture a photo of a cute, sassy 5 year old on her way to school, while the sun is just rising and you’re holding a hungry, squirmy baby in your dominant arm? This is what happens.

She’s a little blurry, but by golly, she’s still sassy and cute! (I’ll attempt another shot after school, but by then, if history repeats itself, her sleeves will be less than presentable. “It’s the sand from recess, Mom!”)
The blurry girly above? She has a mean ol’ mom. Mom won’t let her wear tank tops or spaghetti straps to school or church. Mom also isn’t crazy about short sleeves when it’s 30° outside. Poor thing.
A few months ago Mean Ol’ Mom discovered Halftee layering tees and asked to try them out for the girls. I knew they would get lots of use, and it’s not even summertime yet.
We snagged the white long-sleeved burnout halftee (in the photo above) for our 5yo, and our 9yo chose the black boyfriend halftee. I truly cannot tell you how many times these halftees have been worn. A frequent phrase in our home has become, “Where’s my halftee?!” shouted through the house, most likely when the baby is asleep.
Our older daughter plays basketball, and her team wears oversized tank jerseys. The halftee fits like a sports bra with sleeves, so it provides both comfort and modesty without having to wear a bulky t-shirt under her jersey. She’s even able to take the jersey off to reverse colors without having to leave the room. So convenient!
Miss Five up there just loves her fancy sleeves. She’s also been heard squealing, “Mom! Now I can wear my favorite strap shirts over this!” Ah, a solution that works for both of us. Mama likes it.
Halftee.com has tees for big girls, too! I don’t have one yet, but think they’d be mighty comfy under a cute summer dress or to put a little less V in a favorite V-cut shirt.
You can follow Halftee on facebook, twitter, and pinterest for layering ideas and giveaways (and the occasional discount code!).
Want to try a halftee for yourself or your daughter? I have a $25 Halftee credit for two of my readers today! To enter, simply leave me your name and email in the form below: (information to be used only for contacting the winners)

Please enter me in the contest
Haha, this is so timely!!! I was JUST looking at these tees this morning, trying to figure out if I really wanted to spend the money on one or not, if it was in the budget or not. Oh I hope I win!!!
Well if you don’t, I just added a 20% off discount code to the post.
Love that Wildcat purple!
Oh, these are marvelous! My girl wears shirts under shirts all the time, and would love these.
Looking at the sizing though, the largest child one is a 10-12. Is that what your 9 year old is wearing? Do they run big?
I’m thinking we’d have to go to the adult xs, which is sometimes too big because her chest hasn’t developed yet and therefore they don’t sit exactly right.
Curious what size your oldest is wearing.
Fun!
Hers is an 8-10, but she’s just about the smallest girl in her 4th grade class.
They fit snug, and I think I saw a review on the site that said to go a size UP if there’s any concern about fitting. We really do like them!
I love the idea of these, but can’t afford them. I actually make my own- buy super cheap shirts at target (I paid $3 for most of mine) and cut them off under the bust. I serge them because I have a serger, but you can just wear them cut off, since they won’t fray. They may roll a bit though. I love it. It also helps with nursing and modesty in general since most shirts show more cleavage than I prefer.
