Distracted and rushed last night at suppertime (as seems to be our new it’s-too-nice-outside-to-go-in-and-get-supper/baths/bed usual), I only halfheartedly acknowledged my daughter’s proclamation.
Her: I know where’s the best place to eat.
Me: Really? Where? {as I walk away to grab some more of something that someone desperately needs in order to survive mealtime}
Her: {dramatic pause to make sure I’m listening} Mama’s Kitchen!
I’m thinking that if homemade cheese-stuffed garlic breadsticks weren’t involved, I may have missed out on such a compliment; but I’ll cling to her words and trust that eating at Mama’s Kitchen, regardless of what’s on the menu, is a Finer Thing.
Surrounded by the ones I love most, even if they are sprinkling sippy cup milk onto their tostadas or or eeny meeny miney moing what they should eat next or picking themselves up off of the floor after tipping their chair for the third time… well, I kind of like eating at Mama’s Kitchen, too.

That is definitely a finer thing!
To know that your children would rather eat at home than out!
Love it! Around here it’s called Amanda’s Diner!
That is the finest thing of all!
That is really sweet. I think most of the time my kiddos feel that way as long as I am making something they like. he he
Have a great day! Hugs, Bobbi Jo
