Finer Things Friday: Tooth Fairies and Pixie Dust

finer things friday Finer Things Friday: Tooth Fairies and Pixie Dust

Yesterday my oldest pulled her first tooth. And I nearly cried.  What kind of sappy mother am I, anyway?!

She’s quite proficient at surprising others, so when her Daddy walked in the door she ran to him and jumped in his arms just like nothing had ever happened.  Witnessing her sheer delight when Daddy gasped at the void was a Finer Thing.

She checked under her pillow 17 times before going to bed, just to make sure the Tooth Fairy’s job would be easy.  Her excitement was contagious.

Drifting out of cozy sleep this morning, I listened with a grin as my toothless early-bird rambled to her Daddy… “The Tooth Fairy came!  She left a dollar, but I don’t know what kind.  I’m bettin’ it is a $1 or a $7 because I saw a straight line.  Maybe she changed the number when she sprinkled pixie dust on it.  I better go check.  She flew away, but I heard her, but I didn’t want to look because I didn’t want to scare her off!”

It’s a Finer Thing that she enjoyed stashing that $1 bill just as much as she would have a $20.  I have a feeling the Keeper of the Teeth is going to have to redeem her reputation as my girl becomes more worldly.  *Sigh* For now, I’m celebrating the magic of the first lost tooth and a visit from a pixie dust carrying Tooth Fairy.

There is nothing like the excitement of a first lost tooth! I had no idea the tooth fairy used pixie dust too. That’s so cool. :)

Hi Amy!

I came across your blog about a month ago and LOVE it. I live in Kansas as well but in a bigger city. I did cry when my oldest lost his first tooth…lol. He started losing late (he was 8) so we were waiting for awhile.

Have a good day!

Nothing wrong with being a sappy mama! ;)

Your little girl is just adorable showing off her brand new gap. What a sweet memory those photos will make…

I think the tooth fairy used to bring me a dime… though it might have a been a quarter by the time they got to me (I AM the youngest, after all. ;) )

Awww! Nothing wrong with feeling sappy about losing a tooth. ALl the things our children go through as they grow is reason to feel sappy – first step, first word, etc. :D My baby is turning 10 next month. Now I’m going to feel sappy. :(

I wanted to cry when we had to get my oldest’s bottom 2 teeth pulled–it could’ve been the dentist bill though! ;) Nah- It’s a true sign that they are growing up and a hard one to swallow.

When DD lost hers, I fought back tears, too.

Your daughter is so cute showing off her gap and her loot!

Amy, I just discovered your Finer Thing carnival. Not sure how I have been missing out, except that I recently subscribed to your blog. Now, I won’t miss anything else.
Love the pictures and tooth fairy story. I am looking forward to these moments with my daughter.

My daughter has been wiggling her top two teeth for weeks now, and I’ll be honest and tell you I’ve been DREADING the day they come out. I love those little baby teeth. Boo-hoo. I’m a sap about stuff like that, too! :-)

Thanks for letting me join your fun party again this week!
