Finer Things Friday: The Ability to Give

finer things friday Finer Things Friday: The Ability to Give

What should I write tonight?  Gush about how great it is that we live less than an hour from my sister and were able to take her out to eat for her birthday on a weeknight?  Share that one of the finest things about eating healthfully and frugally 90% of the time means we get to break all the rules 10% of the time?  Gloat about the oreo mint ice cream shake I devoured tonight from the best burger ‘n shake place in all of Kansas?

I could.

But not really.

As I sit in front of my computer, listening to the hum of the humidifyer, preparing to take a bubble bath and climb in to my 600 thread count sheets, I can think of only one finer thing.

The ability to give.

Thank you for posting this. It is indeed a terrible situation. I just can’t even wrap my mind around it. We are definitely blessed. I work for the Salvation Army and I know what kind of difficult things they’re dealing with right now as they prepare to spend months, if not a year or more working on rebuilding the country. Prayer is definitely key!! Bless you and yours.

We are all so blessed! It has been so difficult to watch the sorrow, grief, and true devastation in Haiti. Yes, the finest things in our life, are probably things we take for granted, daily. Thanks for the reminder.

So well said, Amy… it is so easy to forget how very blessed we are and how much we have to offer. I am so guilty of sometimes feeling like I have it so “hard” because of our tight budget and what-not. How incredibly untrue! There’s nothing like finding the heart to give to make you realize how abundant your blessings really are…

I hear ya, friend. It helps me if I spend more time thinking of things like Haiti and less time thinking of the people in town with fancy cars, homes, and such.
