Finer Things Friday: My Baby, and My Baby

It wasn’t lost on me last weekend when my crabby, crying girl climbed on my lap.  I wouldn’t let her have a cupcake yet, and she was exhausted from playing and getting whatever she wanted whenever she wanted it at grandma and grandpa’s for five full days, three of those days with cousins.  Oy!

I figured we’d start the grandparent detox sooner rather than later, and before I know it, she’s asleep.

My baby, wrapped around my baby.

She slept right through the cupcakes, right through the birthday singing, right through the chaos of family fun… for two hours.

I sat there… for two hours (my poor, pregnant bladder!) and soaked up every fleeting moment.  Oh my, it was a Finer Thing!

What Finer Things are you celebrating this week? Link up and let us know!  Please link to your post (not your home page) and leave a link back here so your readers can join in.

  2. Oh, Amen! I love when Gracie climbs up and lays on the couch with me these days. I’m glad someone snapped a picture of you with your babies.

  3. Mandy says:

How very precious!! And you look fabulous for 33 weeks preggo too, by the way! ;)

  4. What a sweet photo! I love your phrase Grandparent Detox…hilarious!

  5. Oh I love it! Some of my favorite memories are of my children curled up in my lap. This week I had special time with my 7 year old preparing him to start 2nd grade. (sigh) He still likes to curl up with mom in the recliner every once in a while…so I haven’t completely lost my baby in him yet! Whew!

This is my first visit to your site…found it from Women Living Well. I will be back soon, count on it!

  6. I love this, Amy. So sweet.

  7. Alisa says:

So sweet! Thanks for hosting this great party! :)

  8. Oh my! I’m jealous. I don’t get very many cuddles these days and I try to make sure I realize and cherish those infrequent times.

Good for you for seizing the moment(s)!

  9. Oh yes that is a very fine moment. So sweet. Glad you could enjoy the moment.

Grandparent detox going on here, too – I’m not sure if it’s better or worse that Goose doesn’t have any sibblings… no distractions, but no one to fight with, either!

  13. Dawn says:

Jumped over here from our convo at Parenting the Tiniest of Miracles.

    So precious. <3 <3 <3

Fortunately for me, PreK Newbie's grandparents are a little stricter (and more experienced) than I am and he comes home better behaved than before. LOL

  14. MamaHall says:

  15. Sherry says:

  16. JenPenM says:

Aww! You and your babies are so beautiful! That big little girl looks like she was definitely needing some extra attention from Mama. How sweet that she was snuggling her soon-to-be sibling as they napped. You’ll need to take an “after” picture of you three once you have the baby, it would be so cute for a baby book or family scrapbook.

  17. Linda says:

A moment to treasure, enjoy them whenever you can. They grow up too soon.

  18. Erin says:

Beautiful post of a truly “fine thing”! I loved the “Grandparent detox” also…so true!

  19. You are so wonderfully blessed!! So precious!
