Finer Things Friday: He Reads

The only thing that warms my heart more than watching my 5 year old read a book

is watching him read to his baby brother.

Pretty sure baby brother enjoys it, too.

  1. Hi Amy! I’m celebrating my blog this week–thanks for the chance to link up. Your boys are so adorable! I’m a huge book lover, so it’s really sweet to see them reading together. πŸ™‚

  2. Super cute pics!! πŸ™‚ Our oldest son was five when his sister was born, so we had many of the same kind of moments!! He also read to her while she was “in mommy’s tummy” too, since Daddy was deployed and couldn’t do it! πŸ™‚ Sweet memories!!

  3. That is too sweet! You are very blessed!

  4. Love it! And is that an army crawl I spy? One of my boys did the army crawl for an entire month before moving on to the regular crawl, boy that brings back memories!

  5. Thanks for hosting!! I shared last week on my anticipation of leaving for my first food blogging conference & I stopped back by this week to share my experience last weekend. It was as a wonderful weekend of great food and amazing people! I made a lot of friends! πŸ™‚

  6. Oh, we love our ‘that’s not my’ books. So cute, colorful and interactive. What a sweet picture!

  7. So sweet! I love moments like this!

We have all those “That’s not my…” Usborne books. My 5 year old still loves to read them all.

Have a great weekend! God bless. πŸ™‚

  8. How sweet!! I hope this happens with my girls! My two year old took awhile to warm up to books. Since I am a huge book person it was hard to watch but glad she finally came around! Hopefully she’ll like to read to her little sister too!

  9. That is pretty precious! I love it when siblings can read to the younger ones.

  10. That is soooooo sweet!!!

  11. I’m teaching our 5th to read right now – and the joy of seeing it “click” never gets old!! πŸ™‚

  12. I love it when my older kids read to my younger kids, too. Super cute!

  13. It is wonderful to see your children learn to read, period! But then to see them read to their siblings is very special. Enjoy the moments.

  14. That is definitely a finer thing πŸ™‚

  15. My 4 year old loves telling his little brother about pictures in books and it really does melt my heart! Your pictures are fabulous and brought a smile to my face πŸ™‚

  16. What a wonder that must be! My 4-year-old memorizes books and can “read” a few words, but she hasn’t mastered the art yet. I can’t wait until she does. She is going to be absolutely thrilled by the magic of reading all on her own!

How old was your son when he learned to read?

    • Just this year, at 5. He learned quicker than our oldest daughter, though, which seems crazy to me! I read and read and read to her early on. He’s not proficient by any means, but he enjoys reading board books to the baby!
