** My apologies for the tardiness of this post. My internet went out yesterday. Needless to say, Century Link is not on Santa’s good list right now.**

I have to admit that my sweet tooth doesn’t pack quite the punch that it used to. It was nothing for me to down both a full-size Snickers bar and a can of Dr. Pepper after school as a teenager. Now? Blech. Can’t do it. Doesn’t even sound good.
But a little dessert every now and again, especially during the holidays… I can go for that. So can my kids. And my chocolate-loving hubby. Because I don’t fix it often, we consider dessert a Finer Thing around here.

I’m pleased to offer up some of my favorite holiday dessert recipes for the last stop on our Bloggy Progressive Dinner. I’ll even pour you a cup of coffee if you wish (but someone else will have to make it; I don’t have a coffee pot).
If you missed out on the other Bloggy Progressive Dinner courses, be sure to head back to the following blogs for some delicious recipes:
- Parenting the Tiniest of Miracles (beverages)
- Balancing Beauty and Bedlam (appetizers)
- The Happy Housewife (salads and sides)
- Cooking During Stolen Moments (main dish)
And just because I think you’re so sweet, I have quite the giveaway for you today! The Delectable Desserts gift pack from Tastefully Simple. This collection includes Absolutely Almond Pound Cake, Creamy Caramel Sauce (perfect for Caramel Pecan Cheesecake!) and Truffle Brownie mix.

You can enter this giveaway multiple times.

Provided I have internet service (grrrrr), I’ll let random.org pick a winner Sunday evening, 12/6, around 8pm central time. Good luck!

What? No coffee pot? LOL! C’mon over and I’ll pour the coffee. You bring dessert! LOL!
My favorite dessert is my mom’s apple pie. It’s SO yummy!
I participated in every day of the progressive dinner! Thanks such a fun week!
I’m sorry you had computer issues. That can be so frustrating. I was wondering where you were. Thanks for hosting! And for the giveaway!

Duh! I didn’t read the contest until after I posted my link…and my link wasn’t to a dessert!! Sorry!
My favorite holiday dessert has to be Christmas Fudge. I make a ton of them as gifts for the holidays. I’ll be posting the recipe next week on my blog!!
No worries! Any Finer Thing is welcome here.
My favorite dessert?!?!? Which one isn’t.
I would vote for carrot cake and cream cheese icing…my mother’s recipe of course!
Oh, yum! I never make that, but my chocolate-loving hubby just the other day said it sounded good. Go figure!
My favorite dessert right now is bakerella’s mini cherry cheesecakes! Oh yum!
Love Heath Bar Cake and pretty much anything chocolatey!
Ahhh….my favorite dessert…..what a toughie!! Coconut cream pie would be the choice for today!
I rarely get to indulge in coconut because hubby is not a fan, but my mom makes a delicious coconut cream pie!
I’ve missed the last couple of weeks here but I do have a holiday dessert to share – raw date truffles. It’s simple to make – the kids can even help. The best part is that they look like you spent hours slaving over them.
Thanks for hosting! My favorite dessert – right now it’s a make-shift german chocolate cupcake with ice cream. Yum.
I think my favorite dessert would be plain old apple pie — with ice cream of course

One of my favorite deserts is regular old cherry cheesecake. I love it! I also love apple pie. Yum. I’m going to do a post on the apple pie that I make and will link up to your post!
I just posted about another one of my favorite holiday dessert recipes!
My favorite dessert is creme brulee. But, my favorite “homemade” dessert is mixed berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I will try to post the recipe on my blog and link it later today!
Now I’m hungry!
I left a link above to one of my favorite sweet treats (a drink rather than a dessert, per say). Also, one of my favorite Christmas time desserts is my aunt’s strawberry pretzel dessert!
Their family makes it for me every year!
Oh, yes. The strawberry pretzel dessert. My recipe says “salad” but we know better!
I can’t peg down just one favorite dessert….I love them ALL!!! Chocoalte desserts, fruity pies, ice cream desserts…yuuummmm!!! I guess if I HAD to pick I’d chooose good ‘ol fashioned cookies
My favorite dessert is whatever is being served! I pretty much love all desserts!
Just wanted to apologize for posting a non-dessert recipe. I didn’t read it through very well! Please feel free to delete the entry.
As far as my favorite dessert goes, a moist traditional chocolate cake is my fave. Served warm with ice cream…Mmm!
No apology necessary. Any “Finer Thing” is welcome here!
I am hoping to try the Layered Choc pie dessert. I know it will be a favorite. I also love cheesecake. Thank you!
I am making one of my favorites tonight for supper – apple pear crisp!
For Christmas I adore Buche de Noel and make 2 different kinds 3 times for a total of 6 by the time we change the calendars (2 for Christmas Eve/Day, 2 for Boxing Day, and 2 for New Year’s Eve/Day)
My favorite dessert is red velvet cake with chocolate frosting…so good! Thanks!
I’m not much of a dessert person anymore either. Use to I could live off the stuff. My all time favorite would have to be Pecan Pie. I know it is really rich but I love the stuff. One piece is all I can eat.
My fave dessert is the J. Alexander’s “Very Best Chocolate Cake Ever.” It’s a warm, layered chocolate cake served with ice cream and hot chocolate sauce. And did I mention it was HUGE? Anything warm, bready, and chocolate will pretty much satisfy me, though!
My favorite dessert is cookies & cream ice cream. Yum!
My current favorite is an Apple Dapple Cake. I found the recipe on Southerplate.com? My husband thinks it is the best cake I have ever made.
My favorite dessert is probably a good brownie!
But I love many others too… (just no pie or cheesecake- I can say no to those any day.
)
I, of course, participated in all 5 days!
My favorite dessert of all is coconut creme pie.
Top on my list of favorite desserts ~ My grandmother’s apple pie.
It’s too hard to choose just one, but my favorites involve chocolate. One of my favorite non-chocolate desserts, though is Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings. Yuuuuum!!

I love chocolate mousse.
My favorite dessert is hot fudge sundaes.

I loooooooooove carrot cake! YUMMY!
Learning to live without sugar, finding alternative treats and ways of fixing favorite foods without sugar, and feeling better the more nutritiously I eat–these are finer things!
(But I’d love to feed my prayer group this stuff, anyway. They’re not sugar sensitive. : )
I love (just about) anything chocolate.
Mmm…brownies with chocolate chips are the best!
My favorite dessert is a brownie with vanilla icecream!
Pumpkin pie from Costco is just simply my fav dessert that I’ve been able to get my hands on, both in San Diego & Phoenix! Athens again, if Im cooking it, I LOVE cheesecake with mini chocolate chips and crushed peppermint mixed in, all with an Oreo crust. Now that’s just delicious!
Finer things: homemade treats and gifts.
My favorite dessert is homemade coffe cake or brownie truffles. Yummy!!
