This is the face of a first grader who
- gave in to the sandman at 10:45 the night before school started
- came barreling out of her room at 6:45 the next morning (fully dressed and with her bed made!), announcing “The 1st Grader’s awake!”
- had an “Everything was awesome!” first day of school.
And this {sigh} is the swelled heart of a mama who is grateful that going to school is a Finer Thing and not a traumatic event for her precious daughter.

I know I don’t have to say this… but she is so beautiful. What a blessing for YOU and her daddy, as well…that she did have a good first day. Woohoo!
Oh, your post makes me miss teaching so much! I used to absolutely love the first day of school with my first graders. I think they almost all walked through my door with grins as wide as the ocean! They were just so proud to be big first graders!

Joe and I can’t have kids (at least not today) so I’m celebrating vicariously through you. It’s wonderful to see so much love and joy in your family.
I am celebrating a simple side dish that makes my life so much easier on busy nights & is dirt cheap – oven baked brown rice. No more boiling over on the stove top & the texture is perfect every time. Gotta love it!
Our first day of first grade is next week! She’s just as excited!! Going to be a big adjustment to full day! So glad it went well, and since she loves it, she’ll be eager to get up and go every day!! How wonderful!!
