Finer Things Friday: An Awesome Day

This is the face of a first grader who

  • gave in to the sandman at 10:45 the night before school started
  • came barreling out of her room at 6:45 the next morning (fully dressed and with her bed made!), announcing “The 1st Grader’s awake!”
  • had an “Everything was awesome!” first day of school.

And this {sigh} is the swelled heart of a mama who is grateful that going to school is a Finer Thing and not a traumatic event for her precious daughter.

  1. Yeah for a great first day of school. She looks glowing!

  2. How cute! She is just adorable. I hope my post follows your rules. I think our Summer Vacation was a “finer” thing.
    Thanks for hosting!

  3. I know I don’t have to say this… but she is so beautiful. What a blessing for YOU and her daddy, as well…that she did have a good first day. Woohoo!

  4. Oh, your post makes me miss teaching so much! I used to absolutely love the first day of school with my first graders. I think they almost all walked through my door with grins as wide as the ocean! They were just so proud to be big first graders!

I’m so glad she had a great day!!! That’s just exactly as it should be. Sigh.

  5. Awesome! I’m so glad that her first day went so well!

  6. Such a blessing when they like school! My 1st grader has had a good 1st week, too. Oh, I am so grateful!

  7. Wow!
I love the good! I enjoy the love! The picture made me smile! I know she is going to soar this year!
My little Joy that God has blessed me with is two years old. She has made me seize the day and cheerish the moments together.
I am working on a book about the challenges I have faced this year. I am on the second chapter. You have to start somewhere.
    Peace through love!

  8. That is wonderful that your daughter likes school! She is so adorable!

  9. That’s fantastic!! I hope my youngest has a similar experience:-)

  10. I saw her adorable face and, honestly, thought of your Twitter pic! She looks so much like you.

Joe and I can’t have kids (at least not today) so I’m celebrating vicariously through you. It’s wonderful to see so much love and joy in your family.

I am celebrating a simple side dish that makes my life so much easier on busy nights & is dirt cheap – oven baked brown rice. No more boiling over on the stove top & the texture is perfect every time. Gotta love it!

  11. Our first day of first grade is next week! She’s just as excited!! Going to be a big adjustment to full day! So glad it went well, and since she loves it, she’ll be eager to get up and go every day!! How wonderful!!

  12. How precious. Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you!

  13. Oh she is absolutely a doll!

  14. What a blessing! She is an adorable 1st grader, too!

  15. Her little bobbed haircut is absolutely adorable.

I’m so glad that her first day was “awesome” and I hope that the rest of her year is equally exciting. 🙂
