When I set out, I sure didn’t intend my Holy Week media fast to last 6 days! Seems that on April 1st (no foolin’!) our computer was infected with some type of virus. It’s all cleaned up now, but wow… I’m amazed at how far behind I got on computer tasks in that week.
You know what else was amazing? What I got caught up on.
My home sings when I’m off the computer.
My children are delightful when I’m off the computer.
I get caught up on sleep when I’m off the computer.
We play outside longer when I’m off the computer.
I have no intentions of giving up this blog. The connections I’ve made here have blessed me tremendously and have provided some fun things for my family. However, being without for several days reminded me of what I have.
If I’m not as quick to respond to comments or emails, if I don’t make it to every single link every single week, you’ll understand… right? Just know that I’m busy enjoying The Finer Things. And I hope you do, too!
What Finer Things are you celebrating this week? Link up and let us know. As always, please use your permalink and leave a link back here, too. It would also be nice if you could visit a few other participants and celebrate with them.

Sometimes unplugging is the best way to connect with life again. Glad you enjoyed your “media fast” and also glad you’re back.
Glad to see your back. As bad as a computer virus is, it certainly is a blessing in disguise to be forced to take a “media fast.” AMEN!!
I need to do this more. Unplug!
Glad your computer is working though, we missed you!

Oh man and it has been beautiful outside. I have been wooed by the weather and my B’s giggles in the grass as well.
I am glad you have a computer again, but I totally understand what you mean about getting more done when you are unplugged. I think we all can agree with that. Family should always come first. Take care.
Good for you! It’s nice to take a break sometimes.
That is such a great idea! I’m getting ready for a break too, but I don’t know if I’ll take it. It’s all about balance!

I often see people blogging about balance – and yet NOT walking their talk. Bravo for you to for having the perspective that “unplugging” can be a “Finer Thing” rather than a technical catastrophe!
I remain impressed and have marveled at the fact you DO visit each link… but yes – your readers will stay with you if you don’t answer every comment or visit every link! And if they don’t – well they were just a number, not a good bloggy neighbor!
Have a great weekend Amy!
With the sun finally shining in the Northeast, I am trying to make a more conscious effort to keep the computer off during the day. It is hard though, it calls out to me…a quick pick here or there.
Have a great weekend.
There’s nothing quite like necessity to make us take a closer look at things! I’m glad you found the joy in your computer nightmare.
Thanks for the reminder of what we all need to be doing!!! I’m glad you’re back, but also glad you had a break!!!
So important to take a break from computers and other electronic devices and focus on the real priorities.
Glad you got to enjoy some finer things. My finer thing this past week was taking an afternoon nap and waking up to the sound of birds chirping through my open window and warm wind bloing on my face. Aah bliss. I love SPRING!
Well said, Amy. I think we do get a little caught up in our online world. I know I have, at times. I have felt out of the online loop for the past month, while transitioning from Texas to Missouri, posting, at times, only once a week. I have enjoyed taking the stress off myself to get to all the sites, respond to every comment, etc. It has been kind of freeing. SO, I completely understand. Have a wonderful weekend. Having said all that, I sure am glad I was able to post a Finer Things Friday post.
So glad that you enjoyed your time away from the computer. Sometimes you need that to reconnect with the real world.
I too just learned this lesson. It’s amazing how my kids are not in nearly as much trouble when I am off the computer. Sad really, it’s because I am doing my job. They play and sing and dance, because I am doing those things with them. I for one will not be upset with you one bit.
I have been musing on the traditions my family has passed down, and how thankful I am for these fine memories I have to pass on to my own children!
As I am beginning my blogging adventures, I constantly pray that God will help me keep them in perspective!
It would be ironic if our blogs kept us from the very things we blog about!
Glad you are back. You always reminder me of “finer things.”
Glad to see you are back and it was just a virus! Sometimes it takes something like viruses that teach us that other things are more important.
Hugs!!
Great Idea… now to implement it.. for me that is….
