Finer Randomness {Finer Things Friday}

::  Baby had her 2 week appointment on Monday.  One of the objectives of the appointment is to make sure she’s gained back her birth weight, which was 6 pounds, 9 ounces.  She weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces at the appointment.  Yay for Mama’s Milk!  Won’t be long and we’ll have chubby baby rolls!

::  Last night I told some skype friends, “Heading out to walk to the post office.  Yet another weird thing I can do here at 10pm.”  And the response I got?  “I’m just glad you realize that’s weird!”  Ha!  I forget sometimes that living in a Tiny Town is just plain… odd.

::  Some breathe a sigh of relief when Friday arrives.  As for me, I’m just gearing up!  Tonight’s our annual ice cream social for the football families.  I made 3 batches of homemade ice cream (Butterfinger, Oreo, and vanilla) yesterday, and gratefully, the team parents are taking care of everything else, including more ice cream.  Should be about 60 people in my driveway tonight.

Tomorrow morning is the first Saturday of team breakfasts for the season.  I whipped up a couple of overnight breakfast casseroles this morning and am about to start a batch of cinnamon rolls.  Then tomorrow evening we have family coming for Baby’s baptism.  My mom’s saving the day by bringing a strawberry sheet cake and apple crisp. (I’m hiding the vanilla ice cream tonight and saving it for tomorrow.)  I’ve got a long nap planned for Sunday!

::  School started back for my hubby today.  The Finer Thing in that is that other than football practice, which takes a chunk out of the day, he’s been home.  That made our “family of seven” transition so very easy!  If you remember, Baby #4 was born on the first day of school and the day before the first football game of the season.  (How did we manage that?!)  This time around?  Cakewalk.

I think that about does it!  Baby’s been up since 4:30 this morning.  I don’t believe I’ll add that to my Finer Things list for the week.  ;)  Good thing she’s cute!

  1. I love chubby babies! Bring on the baby rolls! :)

    Happy weekend!

  2. Love this post! So glad mommy milk is working so well–my twins were so tiny we had to wait much longer for those sweet rolls! Left a link….Happy Friday!

  3. Wow, homemade ice cream! I was barely awake long enough to eat at 2 weeks postpartum. The difference might be I had a c-section, but with such disjointed sleep I didnt’ feel like doing much at all. Thank goodness for parents and friends who brought food and made-ahead freezer meals! :)

  4. She is adorable! Have enjoyed seeing all the updates and amazed that after 2 weeks you are back in routine for football. Are you going to share her name with us?

  5. I love it, your little lady is looking chunky already! Way to go mommy! Sorry the first link I left for http://www.pennyquotes.blogspot.com was wrong. The second link is right. :)

  6. She is beautiful!!! Sorry but grandma in me is very concerned that she is sleeping on her tummy. I am assuming that she is just on her tummy for the picture. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

  7. In response to Phyllis ^ my son was a preemie and is now 16 months old and I ALWAYS slept him on tummy! My SIL has 4 children, the oldest is 14 and all of them were tummy sleepers too! So if you do put your little ones on their tummies, go for it! =)

  8. Ok, that picture is just precious. Good thing I’m pregnant because the baby fever just from that picture alone would have made me crazy ;).

  9. I can NOT stop looking at that picture of Baby Girl. I’ve got to plan a trip to Kansas. That’s all there is to it. ;)

  10. Next time you should really shoot for a late June delivery. :)
