Favorite Spring Foods

When the seasons change from winter to spring, so do my tastebuds and my energy level (thank goodness!).  For my health, that is a great thing as we welcome lots of fresh fruits and veggies into our meal plan, and leave most of our heavy, rich meals for the cozy days of fall and winter.

Here are some of our favorite spring foods.

1.  Anything from the grill.  We prefer to fill it once and enjoy several meals.

2.  Roasted asparagus.

3.  Strawberry anything.  This strawberry sheet cake is yummy!

4.  Lemon bars.

5.  Fruit pizza.

6.  Dill dip with lots of fresh veggies.  (Bell pepper strips and cucumbers are my favorite!)

7.  Fresh Strawberry Limeade Slush.  Yes, I know I already mentioned strawberries, but it is spring afterall!

8.  Beef and chicken fajitas.  It’s the peppers.  I love bell peppers!

9.  Loaded tostadas.  Ok, so we enjoy these all year long, but piling on the lettuce and tomatoes is especially fun in the spring.

10.  You tell me.  What other spring food should be added to my list?  Recipe links welcome!

  1. Everything looks so good and yummy, when can I come over to eat? For me the only thing missing is BBQ sauce, Sonny’s specifically.

Also, I’m gonna have to try those lemon bars. I love lemon and so does my Mom who’s coming to visit this week.

  2. Oh yummy!! I have your taste buds:) Do you like tomatoes? We’ve started grilling them with our bell peppers for fajitas … so good!

We love to “Fill the Grill” – planning on doing it on Friday as a matter of fact. Love spring! Although, here in HOTlanta, it seems to be summer already. 87 degrees in April is a little insane. :)

  4. Kari says:

Ok, so now I’m hungry! Let’s see…#10 should be ice cream. Eaten outdoors on a warm spring evening. :)

  5. Jessica says:

That strawberry cake looks delicious. We also fill up the grill when we grill and save the extra chicken for salads throughout the week or we undercook the meat and freeze it and bake it later to get that yummy grill taste. Enjoy all those yummy foods!

  6. The fruit pizza looks amazing!

  7. oh amanda says:

OH, I want to try each one of those!!

    YUM.

  8. AllieZirkle says:

Yummmmmy! I love all of these things too! Great idea on the grill… I usually bbq extra chicken, but I hadn’t thought about other meats too!

Everything you have on this list would be on mine too. Especially the strawberries. I HEART strawberries.

  10. Sherri says:

I’ve got to try the Lemon bars! I have a no bake strawberry shortcake trifle recipe up today, since you love strawberry anything. ;-)

  11. Angie says:

Oh the fruit pizza look so yummy!

Found this recipe yesterday…I have not tried it yet…but it looks to good not to share!

Reading this post at lunchtime was probably a bad idea… now I’m craving everything! :)

  13. Sherry says:

Oh, my! These all look scrumptious! We are in need of a new grill, as we decided after last year with the birds taking residence in our grill to make a nest that we couldn’t bring ourselves to cook on it anymore. I can’t wait to have a grill again not only for taste, but also so dh can cook. :D

  14. JessieLeigh says:

It is a beautiful thing when Spring has sprung and my taste buds certainly do change! We enjoyed a big pasta salad and fresh lemonade the other night in celebration of the warm temps. :)

Made your lemon bars for Easter- they were popular!

  15. Joelle says:

I love strawberries, too! I especially love strawberry shortcake. Mmmmm. My birthday is in the spring and that has historically been my cake. :)
I also like your roasted asparagus and fruit pizza ideas. Yummy!

  16. After I wipe the drool up off my keyboard, I should tell you that even though I’m a big food planner and wannabe once a month-er, I have NEVER thought of loading up the grill! What a great concept!!
I’m going to scroll back up now to lick the rest of your screen.

  17. That is a great list:-)

  18. I love, love, LOVE asparagus! In fact, we’re having it with dinner tonight! I am so ready for fresh, local fruits and veggies. We’ll be eating lots more salads now that spring is here!

  19. What a great list, fresh fruits and veggies are a must. I also love homemade salsa, and fridge pickles both from our garden.

  20. Mmm, you’ve got me drooling over here. I love that it’s getting warm enough to grill. :)

  21. I love fruit pizza, too! It’s one of my favorite breakfasts. My mom used to make it for my birthday, instead of a cake, since we usually celebrated at breakfast-time.

    Blessings,
    Michele :)

  22. Those all look fabulous. I agree with you – strawberries are fantastic!!
