During the years hubby and I lived in and near a city, we were never without our Entertainment Book. Its place was in the stuff holder of the passenger’s side door of our Dodge Stratus. We’d plan for or set out on date night, book in hand, enjoying 1/2 priced cuisine and entertainment with the available coupons.
Investing in an Entertainment Book allowed us, in our frugal budgeting, to enjoy a night out every once in a while without the guilt that goes with paying too much for too little. The return on investment? Often immediate. Our savings from one day out would more than pay for the book. Once, we even got 8 people into the zoo for a mere $15 with coupons from The Book and our zoo membership. Score!
According to the Entertainment Book website,
For nearly 50 years, Entertainment has been helping people save in tough economic times with the big Entertainment coupon book. Today, more then ever, people realize that the premium 50% off and 2-for-1 coupons found in the book help them save on everyday essentials right in their neighborhood including:
- Dining
- Shopping
- Movie Tickets
- Groceries
- Services
- Travel
- Attractions
- Car Care
- Home Furnishings
Plus, with each book purchase you get online access to hundreds of additional local printable coupons and incredible online shopping discounts not found in the book.
What a great gift idea for the couple who has everything! I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like to save money, and Entertainment Books can be ordered for whatever city you choose.
- Christmas
- Anniversary
- Wedding
- New Parents
- Graduation
- Birthday
The list goes on. Also, I read once that a family purchases an Entertainment Book in advance every time they go on vacation, for whatever city they are visiting. They end up with fabulous savings and are introduced to local entertainment and restaurants that they never would otherwise think to visit. What a great idea!
Do you have an Entertainment Book? What are your favorite coupons?

I got one for the first time last year…I got the Northern Virginia one and broke even just by using the $5 Safeway coupons they had.
I have found WAY better savings with our Passport card than I ever did with the entertainment book. I’ve been buying the E. book for years, and I always at least make my money back on it, but with the Passport card, my husband and I can regularly dine at GOOD restaurants for half price. The restaurants in the E. Book seem to get more and more obscure as the years go by. I recommend seeing if Passport is in your area and going that route – maybe in addition to the E. book, since Passport is just for dining. You can find it at http://www.passportunlimited.com
I forgot to mention the BEST thing about the Passport – you can use it over and over and over again. I could go to the same restaurant every day for the year and get half price every single time. That’s WAY more valuable than a coupon I can only use one time.
