Double Duty for School Papers

by Amy on December 19, 2008

My kindergartner brings home a lot of papers.  A lot, I tell ya.  Calendars, lunch menu, school work, drawings from friends… you get the picture.  It took less than one week of those papers piling up before I realized that about 90% of them would need to be trashed.  I’m a Sentimental Sally on many a thing, but I have no problem letting go of the number 3 drawn 15 times.

But pitch all those papers?  While I don’t consider myself a front runner in the green scene; that’s just plain wasteful.  There has to be a better way.  There is a better way!

Photobucket

Keepin' it real; please excuse the dust. I didn't even know that was there until I saw the picture!

Now when I sort through my daughter’s papers I immediately put the unwrinkled, one-sided sheets (they are almost all one sided; would you want to be the teacher trying to get all of the 5 year olds to focus on the same side of the page?!?) into my printer.  I use the backside for printing coupons, recipes, and anything else I need a copy of.

Double duty school papers save me money and reduces waste in our home.  They give my recipes and coupons character, too!

Good for you, Amy. I love finding little ways to reuse what would ordinarily go to waste!

What a great idea. This is something I could really get behind. Thanks.

That’s a good idea. If only my son’s paper were not totally crushed by the time he made it home. LOL! I usually use the back to write my to-do lists. I like your site:-) Great stuff.

I like that idea. Sentimental and practical all in one!
