Do you have Walgreens? I’m jealous.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Before we headed west to embrace the Tiny Town, single income, lots of babies lifestyle, I had a great many conveniences (that I totally took for granted) at my fingertips.  Grocery stores, farmers markets, garage sales, and Walgreens, to name a few.

My sister-in-law was the first to sell me on Walgreens brand diapers.  I also appreciated their drive-thru pharmacy (nothing is open for 24-hours around here!) and their sales on groceries and other necessities. We didn’t need a lot of health products at the time, but I didn’t hesitate to use Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products when we did. I figure in most cases with name brand logos, the only thing I’m paying big bucks for is the advertising. As a frugal bonus, the purchase of every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Product supports bringing preventive wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™

If you don’t live in the drug store desert like I do, you may want to enter to win one of 20 different $50 Walgreens gift cards in the giveaways linked here.

Do you live near a Walgreens?  If you use Walgreens Brand products, which do you like the best?

  1. I have to say, I don’t care for Walgreens. There staff is downright rude and condescending. Especially if I am using coupons. Which I do 99% of the time.
I am not the only one that has experienced this. I only go there if I have to.

    • Such a bummer that you’ve had a bad experience. Makes me that much more thankful that my experience “back in the day” was a good one! 🙂

      • I am glad you had a good experience. In my case, it is consistent. Multiple stores in multiple states.

Having said that. I was at one of the local ones a couple of weeks ago. They were very nice.

  2. I love their brand of diapers, too! They’re number two behind Huggies in my book.

  3. Oooh, maybe I’ll have to give their diapers a try…:)

  4. I generally don’t leave negative posts, but I feel the need to share our honest Walgreens experience. I have a love/hate relationship with Walgreens. First, I LOVE a 24 hour pharmacy. When my daughter had croup, it was wonderful for the pediatrician to call in a steroid that we picked up at 1:30 am so that we could avoid an ER trip. Secondly, I love their drive through pharmacy. I do all my prescriptions there solely because it is much easier than hauling all the kids in somewhere.

That’s where the Walgreens love ends. They take forever to fill scrips. Recently, they’ve gotten a program where they will text us when the scrip is ready, and this has only made matters worse. Instead of shooting for filling a scrip in an hour, they tell me it’ll be ready in 2, but I get texted FOUR HOURS later saying it’s been filled. Quite ridiculous. And the best is when they tell my mother that the doctor never called in the scrip, when she watched her doctor (a family friend) call in the scrip, right there in her kitchen. Like I said, it’s a love/hate relationship. But I’ll keep going there, because it’s easier than unloading my toddler and infant.

    • No worries! I can’t fathom that everyone would have a great experience at any “chain” brand. After a couple of the comments on this post, though, I’m glad my own experiences have been positive. 🙂

  5. I don’t want to be a debbie downer about Walgreens. So I have to say they almost always have a lot of nice and usuable things on clearance. They also have a nice selection of baby products.

  6. My husband is a pharmacist at Walgreens and it is like a crazy, under-staffed fast food restaurant back there in the pharmacy! He gets chewed out at least a few times a day. 🙁 I never thought about it before I married a pharmacist, but they have a lot riding on correctly filling scripts, so it is a hard balance of being fast and accurate. I admit, around most of the Walgreens I am at it is hard to get a script quickly – almost all of their stores are really busy and understaffed!

I do shop there of course, but like any big chain, they have have issues. I always try to remember that the staff is probably stressed, so I try to cut some slack.

I do really like their diapers too! I would definitely recommend giving them a try. They often go on sale and you can snag a good deal!

  7. I exclusively use the pharmacy at Walgreen’s. My worker bees seem fine, not overly friendly but not grumps either. I love the drive thru. I see on all the coupon freebie posts that people get awesome deals there. I really only get the occasional makeup product or magazine, while I’m milling about waiting on a prescription. It’s usually 20 minutes or less. I’m a little neurotic about trusting people to do their job correctly, so I’d prefer to wait a few hours than get the wrong scrip.
Now when I lived back east I used Eckerd and pharmacist remembered my name. I liked that.
