Dillons Mega Deals

by Amy on August 21, 2009

Don’t miss out on the Mega Deals at Dillons (Kroger Affiliate) this week!  Guess how much I spent for all of this?

 Dillons Mega Deals

  • 3 (3 lb. each) bags organic apples – manager’s special, $1.99/bag
  • fresh mushrooms – manager’s special, $1.69
  • eggs – FREE with coupons from my personalized Dillons mailer (using these to make homemade ice cream for football families next week)
  • whole chicken – manager’s special, $2.90 (57¢/lb.)
  • 2 yogurt drinks – manager’s special + coupons = FREE

MEGA DEALS – purchase 10 items, receive an instant $5 cash back.  Translates to an extra 50¢ off of each item.  Add coupons and/or ecoupons for some very sweet deals!

  • 7 boxes cereal – $5.70, or about 81¢ per box
  • SoBe Life Water – 25¢ each
  • 4 boxes granola bars – $3.46, or about 87¢ per box
  • 2 packages nut clusters – 99¢ each
  • 3 packages yogurt – 19¢ each
  • Warm Delights (for my hubby’s random chocolate cravings) – FREE, they paid me 22¢ to take these away!
  • toddler ready to pounce on rare cereal treat – oh, wait!  she’s mine ;-)

Mega Deal Total = $11.99

Grand Total = $22.53

I hope to go back over the weekend, as they were out of some Mega Deal items that I had good coupons for.  A few tips:

  • The “rules” are that you need to buy 10 items.  That means any combination of 10 items with the green tags.  You don’t have to purchase 10 boxes of Cheerios to get the sale price!
  • Not every item is advertised in the store flyer. I find it helpful during this sale to walk up and down each and every aisle, armed with my coupon box and my ecoupon printout sheets.  Don’t want to miss a deal!
  • You are only allowed 3 Mega Deal $5 returns per trip.  That’s 30 items.  I had 26 items in my cart, and rather than find 4 more, I put 6 back.  (Had my girls with me, it was supper time, etc.)  Really hoping to go back for them.
  • If I remember right, the Mega Deal usually lasts for two weeks.  Here’s hoping for great coupons this weekend!

And by the way, yes, I do know that you see some items on that table that we try to avoid.  However, I’m a real mama. I have rushed mornings, concession stand bags to pack, and children to bribe reward.  May as well save some money while I’m doing it!

Great trip, Amy! Our Kroger store is tripling coupons this weekend, and the deals are incredible. I may have to go back for another round tomorrow!

Awesome! I shop at Dillon’s occasionally, but I might have to do it more often.

Great deals! You must have been up really late last night or really early this morning to snag the #1 spot on SSS. :)

What a deal! My days of being able to shop like that are long gone but I do quite often stockpile the things that are on the ‘eatable’ list and it’s so much fun.

I hope you’ll share your homemade ice cream recipe – I love making ice cream and seeing what other people do with theirs.
