Date Night During Busy Seasons

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Breyers Gelato Indulgences for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Let’s face it. We have five children and one on the way. We’ve been in a busy season for about 11 years now. 😉

Date night is not easy to come by, and it’s my own personal opinion that a regular night on the town isn’t even necessary to a healthy, thriving marriage. But spending some alone time with my husband without children clamoring for our attention, interrupting our thoughts, and eating our food? Well, that’s kind of nice sometimes.  It’s all about the connection.

Add in a special treat that we’ve hidden from our Pack of Wolves to enjoy at just the right time? Just the two of us?Momentary bliss, that’s what that is.

Date night In is where it’s at for us right now, and whether we sit and watch a movie together, battle it out in a game of 5-point pitch, or even catch up on the latest kid antics and plans for the next week, the night is sweeter with a little dessert. My husband’s favorite is ice cream, so when I was asked to review the new Breyers Gelato Indulgences, he was all over it and happy to help me do my job. So kind, he is.

Available in four delicious varieties, Breyers Gelato Indulgences is unlike any other gelato offering in the grocery store:

  • Breyers Gelato Indulgences Vanilla Caramel features creamy vanilla gelato topped with luscious caramel sauce and gourmet caramelly curls
  • Breyers Gelato Indulgences Raspberry Cheesecake features cheesecake gelato topped with luscious raspberry sauce and gourmet graham crumble
  • Breyers Gelato Indulgences Tiramisu features mascarpone gelato topped with espresso sauce, ladyfinger cookie pieces and sprinkled with gourmet cocoa
  • Breyers Gelato Indulgences Triple Chocolate features milk chocolate and dark chocolate gelatos topped with white chocolate sauce and chocolatey curls

Heck, I don’t even need a table for the next few weeks.

Want to guess my favorites? It’s a tough call, but I’m going with Raspberry Cheesecake and Vanilla Caramel. I’m sure Lance’s vote is Triple Chocolate and then Tiramisu, so yes, we get along well. If you’re looking close, you’ll see that I chopped up some fresh strawberries to go with my Tiramisu that night, which practically makes it health food. Bonus!

Little bit of gelato, little bit of downtime, little bit of one-on-one. It’s all good!

What do you do for date night during busy seasons? How do you carve out time for just the two of you? How would you incorporate Breyers Indulgences into your date night?

We have 5 with one on the way too, and I totally agree that a regular night out is not absolutely necessary for a great marriage. Besides, who can afford a babysitter for 5+ kids on a regular basis?? Our date nights look a lot like yours.

  2. Amy–I love your picture with the ice cream on your belly! We’re expecting #3 and my belly is just beginning to develop it’s own built in table. It is one definite perk of pregnancy!

I know (at least I think so) you delivered without an epidural. We’re choosing that route this time as we’re having this baby in Japan where epidurals aren’t routine–if at all. I’ve done some reading on natural childbirth, but do you have any books or sites that you recommend? Thanks!

Esther, we loved Peggy Simkin’s The Birth Partner book….with our last 2 natural deliveries (and will be brushing up with our next babe due in Sept.)….It was very informative and gave us a great idea of what to anticipate….

    • I saw this earlier and completely forgot to respond! (How long can I use the pregnancy brain/mommy brain excuse?!) We used the Bradley Method and took those classes. Husband Coached Childbirth is a great book to go along with that. Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way would also be a good resource. You can do it! 🙂

  3. Date nights are a rarity at our house, I have 3 kids 4 and under and it would be nice to go out,but if we have the money to go we don’t have a sitter (aka grandma),and if we have a sitter we don’t have extra money to go out, lol. Things just don’t always work out so we have family dates and take the kids with us. Going out to eat is rare for our family so the kids love to go out and do something.
