“Darn Grill” Date Night

Another balmy fall Kansas weekend, perfect for trick-or-treating and cooking out!  Sure wish someone would pass the word to my grill.  I don’t know what it is, but I can not get that thing to heat past 200 degrees.  Instead of serving up grilled steak and chicken, grilled potatoes and salad to the whole family, the kids ended up feasting on hard boiled eggs, broccoli and dip, and yogurt for supper.  Funny, they seem to prefer suppers like that.  Whatever.

When Lance returned from football practice (and he had a really good reason to have practice on Sunday this week!) I sent him out to work his magic *grrrr* with the grill, and he returned with steak, chicken, and potatoes in hand.  So, we missed out on a nice Sunday family supper, but we cashed in on an impromptu, quiet! date night steak dinner.  The grill is forgiven.  This time.  And if you’ve ever wondered how on earth we can afford to grill steak as much as we do, stay tuned.  I’ll be revealing our secret soon.  (Hint:  $2.36 per pound.)

Sunday 11/2

  • waffles, bacon, scrambled eggs
  • calzones (a tasty mistake when I made these way too big) and fruit
  • steak, chicken, potatoes, salad (Darn Grill Date Night!)

Weeknight Suppers

Saturday, 11/8

  • blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs
  • clean out the fridge
  • I’m really hoping to be out of town tonight, but we won’t know until late Tuesday night…

Looks like a totally yummy week. I saw your “finer things muffins” at Happy to Be at Home too! We’ve got steak on our menu for this week too… only it’s not a date night, although I’d love to work it out that way! ;)

What a yummy looking menu! :D Haven’t had a date night in I don’t know how long. Ugh! I had to move up dh’s grill day (Sunday) to Saturday because of his coming home later than usual. IT was still wonderful though! :D
