Please tell me I’m not the last cook to discover both the ease and the deliciousness of Christmas Bark! Found in my new Make Ahead Meals for Busy Moms cookbook, I was pleasantly surprised that the five ingredients were at my fingertips, and from start to finish the recipe takes about 15 minutes to make.

Christmas Bark
- 35 saltine crackers
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 pkg. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- toffee bits or chopped walnuts for topping
- Line a sheet cake pan with foil or parchment paper. Lay crackers on the pan in a single layer.
- Stirring frequently, melt butter and sugar together in a small saucepan. Stir until bubbly.
- Pour butter mixture over crackers. Spread with a spoon. Bake at 400° for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top. Return to the oven for 2 minutes.
- Spread melted chocolate chips evenly over crackers.
- Top with chopped walnuts or toffee bits.
- Set aside to cool. Refrigerate until set. Break crackers into pieces for serving.
What a fun, easy addition to any Christmas goody basket! I’m thinking crushed candy canes would be festive and tasty as an alternative topping as well.
So, am I the last one? Have you been making Christmas Bark all along? What other easy Christmas treats am I missing out on?

This is a new one to me–but boy does it look easy/do-able! I always have those ingredients on hand, too.

Those look so good. Definitely going to have to try those. My kids, and hubby, will thank you!

Oreo balls (YUM), peppermint bark – melt white or regular chocolate (opt- mix in peppermint extract), spread out, & top with crushed candy canes. I also like to take caramels, shove a small pretzel stick in them, dip in chocolate, and roll in whatever – mini M&Ms, toffee bits, choc chips, coconut (eew), chopped nuts – etc. Now you’re making me hungry, and I’m thinking I need to get started on my Christmas candy!!

White chocolate peppermint bark is even easier! Melt white choc chips, mix in crushed candy canes, add mint extract to taste, spread and cool. Voilà! And is it good!

I made it for the first time last week, for our Bible study. I had never had it before either. There wasn’t a crumb left (though I only had enough crackers to make a half sheet pan). Yum!
I saw on another blog that someone had made it using large Cheez-it crackers instead of saltines. Very intellesting…

My grandmother used to make this every year – called it soda cracker candy. One of my favorites!

I’ve never made Christmas Bark before either, but I really want to now! I don’t have any toffee or nuts to put on top, but I do have some candy canes and I think you’re right that they’ll be delicious on top.

I’ve had this before, it’s wonderful.
There’s another easy version made with Town House crackers, the sugar syrup, and slivered almonds (no chocolate) that’s good, too!

We call this “poor man’s toffee” or “cracker toffee.” It is so yummy, I have to restrain myself from eating it all myself!

I didn’t know what it was called. I have made it for a while and I love it. It is so good, I have a problem with making it and not eating it. I always have to make extra for us to eat. It makes a great gift for bus drivers, etc. I put it in a pretty treat bag with ribbon and it looks very cute.
I wrote about this same treat a couple weeks ago but even in my post I had no idea what to call it.

I have to admit…the ingredients are kind of odd. BUT they do look easy. AND I bet they have that perfect sweet/salty crunch that I love.
Thanks for the recipe.
